Job Description

Performance Foodservice (PFG) is a leading broadline foodservice distributor renowned for serving a diverse range of local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a dedicated team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts, PFG goes beyond simply delivering quality food products. The company fosters close relationships with its customers, offering professional guidance on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and strategic business advice. PFG's commitment to empowering independent restaurant owners and local businesses has earned it a reputation for excellence in the foodservice distribution industry.

The Logistics Driver role at Performance Foodservice is an essential position within the company’s Logistics or Procurement department. This role primarily involves operating tractor-trailers (day cab or sleeper), tandem trailers, and straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes to transport food and non-food products efficiently. The Logistics Driver is responsible for timely and accurate pick-ups from suppliers or vendors and ensuring proper delivery of loads to PFG warehouse locations. Compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies is critical, as is adherence to quality standards for all products handled. This position reports to the Logistics Manager or Supervisor and requires flexibility in scheduling, potentially including local routes or over-the-road assignments with layovers based on business needs.

A typical day for the Logistics Driver involves thorough load inspections, paperwork verification such as product counts and invoices, and careful communication with supervisors to manage routes and delivery schedules efficiently. The driver ensures secure loading, appropriate handling of products, and completion of all necessary documentation before and after the trips. Professionalism and courteous conduct are essential attributes of the Logistics Driver, reflecting the company’s standards and commitment to customer satisfaction. This job is pivotal in maintaining seamless operations for the supply chain, supporting PFG’s mission to deliver outstanding service and products to its customers.

Employment for this position is typically full-time with competitive compensation aligned with industry standards. Performance Foodservice fosters an inclusive work environment and is dedicated to equal employment opportunities for all qualified individuals. This role provides an excellent career path for experienced commercial drivers seeking to contribute to a reputable and community-focused organization. The Logistics Driver position offers the chance to work closely with a dynamic logistics team while playing a vital role in the company’s supply chain and distribution network.
