Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline distributor of foodservice products in the United States. Known for its dedication to delivering high-quality products and excellent customer service, PFG builds strong relationships with a diverse range of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company supports these customers not only through a vast product selection but also by offering expert advice on improving operations, menu development, and other strategic areas. Performance Foodservice emphasizes a collaborative and supportive working culture focused on safety, inclusivity, and employee recognition, making it a respected employer in the food distribution industry.

The role of Driver, Dedicated Backhaul, is a vital component of PFG's operational team, directly contributing to the efficiency and reliability of the food supply chain. This position involves operating tractor-trailers, tandem trailers, or straight trucks to handle logistics loads of food and non-food products on varied routes, which include local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. The driver ensures that all deliveries and pickups are performed safely, timely, and in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Beyond transportation, the driver acts as the face of the company, cultivating positive relationships with customers, vendors, and coworkers through professional communication and dependable service.

Drivers in this role are expected to perform comprehensive inspections and paperwork related to load counts, quality checks, and invoices, maintaining accuracy and compliance throughout their routes. They routinely coordinate with supervisors to manage route details, schedules, and any issues that arise during the delivery process. Safety and timeliness are paramount, alongside maintaining clean and secured vehicles and equipment. This position requires physical capability to handle freight using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates, accommodating the weight and nature of their product loads.

Performance Foodservice provides competitive pay and benefits including Day 1 Health and Wellness Benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K Employer Matching, Education Assistance, Paid Time Off, and more. Growth opportunities abound for drivers dedicated to supporting America’s essential food distribution network. The company fosters a culture of respect, recognition, and safety, ensuring that employees work in an inclusive environment that values their contributions and well-being.

Employment in this role is full-time and demands a valid CDL-A license with a clean Motor Vehicle Report, along with passing required drug tests, background checks, and road tests. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and compliant with all applicable state licensing or certification requirements. Those who join the Performance Foodservice team contribute to a critical mission: delivering goods that nourish communities and enable foodservice operations to flourish. This role is ideal for motivated commercial drivers looking to build a stable career with a company recognized for its commitment to quality, customer service, and employee welfare.
