Job Description
Safety-Kleen, located in Santa Ana, CA, is a leading provider specializing in environmental, energy, and industrial services. As a subsidiary of Clean Harbors, Safety-Kleen operates throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, serving a crucial role where industry meets environment. With a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental sustainability, Safety-Kleen focuses on innovative solutions that address tough environmental challenges. Their efforts contribute to cleaning and protecting the Earth while supporting industrial operations with essential services such as hazardous waste collection, parts washer servicing, and product sales.
The company is currently seeking a dedicated Sales and Service Route Driver Trainee (Driver Class B Trainee) to join their Santa Ana team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in obtaining their Commercial Driver's License (CDL), as Safety-Kleen will sponsor and pay for CDL training. The position involves learning to safely drive a Class B box truck while performing onsite servicing of parts washer machines, collecting containerized hazardous waste, and selling products and services along a defined route.
The role is vital to maintaining Safety-Kleen’s reputation for reliability and compliance with environmental regulations. Trainees will gain hands-on experience operating specialized vehicles and equipment and managing customer interactions to promote Safety-Kleen’s wide range of services. The position carries a starting pay range of $26 per hour, reflecting the company’s investment in training and developing skilled drivers for long-term career growth.
Safety is prioritized above all else, with company policies emphasizing health and safety at every stage of operation. Trainees learn to comply with all safety procedures, promote sustainability, and contribute to the company’s mission of environmental stewardship. The company also provides comprehensive health benefits after 30 days of full-time employment, a 401K plan with company match, employee stock purchase plans, and tuition reimbursement—all designed to support and reward employee growth and well-being.
Moreover, Safety-Kleen promotes a culture of career advancement, offering ongoing training and development opportunities at every stage of an employee’s career. Employees enjoy a supportive work environment where problem solving, communication, and independent work skills are nurtured. The Sales and Service Route Driver Trainee will be equipped not only with the technical skills to drive safely and comply with regulatory requirements but also with the customer service expertise to identify sales opportunities and build lasting client relationships.
This role requires physical ability to handle job tasks safely, including switching out drums of solutions and managing waste containers at customer sites. The position also entails completing accurate documentation, following strict compliance guidelines, and operating vehicles in accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation and other applicable regulations.
Safety-Kleen is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, inclusion, and providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals. The company is also proud to be military and veteran friendly, supporting applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences. By joining Safety-Kleen, individuals become part of a company recognized for its integrity, innovation, and leadership in environmental services, contributing positively to community health and safety while developing valuable professional skills.
