The role of Class A CDL Driver at Clean Harbors in Cleveland involves operating various heavy and light duty trucks and work equipment at customer sites. This includes handling vacuum trucks, Cuscos, guzzlers, and roll offs to assist with hazardous waste cleanup and site remediation efforts. The position includes both driving and manual labor duties, emphasizing safe, compliant operation of vehicles and equipment. Drivers will maintain daily logs, ensure proper placarding of vehicles meeting company and Department of Transportation regulations, and adhere to all local, state, federal, and corporate compliance standards. This role demands a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and environmental stewardship. Employees are also expected to be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis and perform equipment decontamination and hazardous material handling when required. Compensation starts at $27 per hour, with health benefits available after 30 days of full-time employment, as well as a 401K plan with company matching and opportunities for growth. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment
  • Ability to perform physical labor as required
  • Successfully complete background check
  • Pass drug test
  • Pass physical examination as required
  • Compliance with OSHA facial hair standards for respirator use
  • Willingness to be on call for emergency response if applicable
  • Ability to operate manual transmission if required

Job Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment
  • Ability to use various mobile devices
  • Perform physical functions per job requirements
  • Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position
  • Meet facial hair standards in compliance with OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.134 for positions requiring respirators
  • Commercial driver experience preferred
  • Hazmat and Tanker endorsement preferred
  • Previous Hazmat experience preferred
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission preferred
  • Previous manual labor experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Ensure health and safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
  • Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers when needed
  • Operate a variety of Class A trucks
  • Loading and unloading of trucks
  • Perform manual labor on site to ensure fulfillment of customer needs
  • Proper placarding of vehicles to meet company and DOT requirements/regulations
  • Maintain daily logs, time sheets, and various reports
  • Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules
  • Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements
  • Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
  • Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability to be on call for emergency response on rotating basis every other week by position
  • Conduct site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials by position
