With a workforce of approximately 18,000 associates, Airgas cultivates a culture centered on safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. As part of Air Liquide, which operates in 60 countries and employs around 66,500 people serving over 4 million customers and patients, Airgas provides a dynamic and supportive work environment. The organization emphasizes the empowerment of its employees, encouraging them to share ideas, take initiative, and make impactful decisions.
The CDL A or B Driver (Union) role based in San Diego, CA, represents a vital position within Airgas' supply chain operations. This full-time opportunity offers a stable 40-45 hour work week, primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends. CDL A license holders earn $32.46 per hour, while CDL B license holders earn $31.20 per hour, reflecting the company’s commitment to competitive compensation. Airgas values work-life balance, making this role ideal for individuals seeking sustainable harmony between professional obligations and personal time with family and friends.
As a CDL Driver at Airgas, you will be entrusted with the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers using company-provided tractor trailers, straight trucks, or box trucks. This role requires active participation in loading and unloading gas cylinders, securing them during transit, and maintaining courteous and professional interactions with customers. Drivers perform crucial pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and operational readiness.
The company equips its fleet with modern technologies including onboard computers, collision avoidance systems, the latest camera technology, and GPS navigation, ensuring drivers have the tools necessary for a safe and efficient delivery experience. The physically active nature of this position involves frequent movement in and out of vehicles and handling heavy materials, with the ability to lift 75 lbs regularly and move more than 125 lbs using material handling equipment.
Airgas strongly supports its employees with a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid child birth benefits of up to 14 weeks, a referral bonus of $1000, a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. The company also fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace culture that honors and values varied perspectives, strengthening team innovation and community success.
This role requires a valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT and Airbrake endorsements, with hazmat certification being mandatory for candidacy.
