Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a premier U.S. supplier specializing in industrial, medical, and specialty gases as well as hardgoods and related products. Recognized as one of the largest suppliers in the U.S. for safety products and ammonia products, Airgas embraces a culture rooted in safety, sustainability, innovation, and customer success. With 18,000 dedicated associates, the company fosters an inclusive and diverse work environment where every employee's perspective is valued. As part of the global Air Liquide group, Airgas operates in 60 countries with a workforce of approximately 66,500 employees, serving over 4 million customers and patients, making it a worldwide leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare.
The position available is for a Class A CDL Driver located in Sacramento, CA, primarily involved with acetylene production and filling operations at a plant location. This role is a local driving position with a consistent Monday to Friday schedule, offering 40-45 hours per week with minimal overtime, providing an excellent opportunity to maintain a sustainable work-life balance. The compensation ranges from $28 to $30 per hour. Airgas emphasizes a predictable routine starting in the mornings to support operational flow and customer service excellence.
The Airgas Class A Driver serves as an essential representative of the company, responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders and supplies to local and regional business customers. Operating company-provided vehicles such as tractor trailers, straight trucks, or box trucks, this role requires frequent loading and unloading of compressed gas cylinders and interaction with customers to ensure high service quality. The company prides itself on maintaining a modern and technologically advanced fleet of vehicles equipped with onboard computers, collision avoidance systems, GPS navigation, and camera technologies, enhancing driver safety and efficiency.
This position demands an ability to perform physically active, hands-on work, including using hand carts and frequently exiting and entering the vehicle. Candidates will undertake pre-trip and post-trip inspections, securely load and unload trucks, and manage deliveries on customer property safely and professionally. Airgas values drivers who embody professionalism, courtesy, and commitment to timely deliveries.
Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, Airgas supports its workforce with a comprehensive benefits package after just 30 days of employment. This includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, and an Employee Assistance Program. Additionally, drivers receive paid parental leave, vacation time, sick leave, floating holidays, and paid holidays for full-time employees. Financial security is further supported through a 401(k) plan with company match and tuition assistance programs for employees and their dependents. Referral bonuses and family support benefits showcase Airgas’s commitment to its team’s welfare.
As an equal opportunity employer, Airgas embraces diversity across all dimensions, nurturing an environment where employees can thrive irrespective of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or veteran status. The company’s dedication to inclusivity and accommodation ensures an equitable workplace. This role is a meaningful opportunity for professional growth and personal fulfillment within a globally respected organization committed to safety, sustainability, and innovation.
