Job Description
Gold Medal Bakery is a distinguished fourth-generation family-owned industrial bakery that has built a strong legacy over the years by providing superior fresh-baked goods to a wide range of customers including food stores, restaurants, and institutions throughout New England and beyond. Operating around the clock, this bakery prides itself on maintaining a team of dedicated, quality-driven people who uphold the company's longstanding tradition and solid reputation by delivering exceptional bread and other baked products. Their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction is evident in every aspect of their business, from production to delivery.
The role available is for a Tractor-Trailer Driver, a crucial position responsible for operating tractor/trailer equipment to transport bakery products safely and efficiently according to Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and company policies. This position involves a high level of responsibility, ensuring that products are delivered on schedule while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation. It demands attention to detail and adherence to rigorous quality control standards to protect the integrity and freshness of bakery products throughout the transportation process.
As a Tractor-Trailer Driver at Gold Medal Bakery, the individual will execute established delivery routes, managing loading and unloading of bakery goods, verifying inventories, and recording accurate trip logs. The driver plays an important role in maintaining the company’s positive public image through courteous and safe driving practices. Beyond driving, the duties include securing loads, completing daily safety inspections, maintaining a clean vehicle interior for food safety, and wearing the company uniform to present a professional appearance. The role requires compliance with federal, state, and company regulations, including holding a valid CDL Class A license and passing annual DOT physicals and driving record checks.
This is an independent role that requires strong judgment and self-motivation, as the driver operates with minimal supervision and must make decisions that directly impact customer service quality and operational efficiency. Physical demands are significant, including the loading and unloading of racks and trays, maneuvering within tight spaces, and enduring various weather conditions while driving. Communication skills are essential for interaction with customers and supervisors, ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery.
Gold Medal Bakery emphasizes continuous training and safety compliance, requiring drivers to attend bi-annual safety meetings and undergo regular training and retraining, ensuring they remain updated with company protocols and industry regulations. The company fosters a supportive team environment where employees collaborate to meet production and delivery goals, maintaining the bakery’s reputation for excellence.
