Job Description
Quality Custom Distribution (QCD) is a prominent provider of custom distribution services to some of the most well-known brands in the foodservice industry. Based in Kent, Washington, QCD operates as a division of Golden State Foods (GSF), a company recognized as one of the U.S. Best Managed Companies. With a driver-first culture, QCD is committed to delivering excellence through respect, quality, fairness, and maintaining high standards. This commitment is reflected in the company’s focus on providing drivers with industry-leading pay, modern equipment, and routes that ensure drivers can return home daily. Their work environment emphasizes strong team relationships through the union with Teamsters Local 117, enhancing job security and benefits for drivers.
The role available at QCD is for a Local Class A Delivery Driver based at their Kent, WA location. This position offers an average annual compensation of around $93,000 or $34.50 per hour, with paid weekly wages, union benefits, and a comprehensive health benefits package covering medical, dental, and vision for the employee and their family within 30 days. The work schedule is structured around a 4-day on, 3-day off rotation, which includes Saturday and Sunday shifts. Drivers will handle 14 to 18 stops per shift, making 100% touch freight deliveries, and must be capable of lifting freight up to 75 pounds. The route involves local, multi-stop deliveries with no overnight layovers, offering a consistent schedule with afternoon to evening dispatch between 3 PM and 6 PM. Equipment used includes state-of-the-art trailers, specifically 36 to 53-foot refrigerated (reefer) trailers equipped with liftgates for safer and more efficient loading and unloading.
This position requires a valid Class A CDL and at least one year of refrigerated trailer driving experience in addition to tractor-trailer experience. Drivers should possess effective communication skills to maintain positive customer relations with warehouse personnel, supervisors, and customers alike. Physical demands include the ability to stand, walk, and climb into and out of tractor trucks repeatedly and to operate safely in cold environments such as freezers and coolers. Adherence to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations is essential, requiring sufficient English language skills for communication, understanding highway signs, and completing necessary reports.
At QCD, employees are supported with numerous benefits including paid time off and holidays, employee discount programs, union benefits, and a driver-friendly culture that values respect and fairness. The company also emphasizes associate development initiatives like education reimbursement, scholarships, and training to foster career growth and personal development. By joining QCD, drivers become part of a respected team delivering essential services to iconic foodservice brands, supported by a globally recognized parent company dedicated to nurturing a supportive and growth-promoting workplace.
