Our client is a leading transportation and logistics company specializing in port-related freight operations and local deliveries. Known for its commitment to safety, efficiency, and excellent customer service, the company operates with a dedicated fleet of trucks and drivers to support the supply chain needs of various industries. This employer prides itself on compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, providing a secure and professional working environment for its employees. They offer competitive pay starting at $30 per hour, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth within the logistics sector.
The role of Commercial Truck Driver Class A with Hazmat endorsement is crucial for ensuring goods are transported safely and efficiently around local ports. The position involves driving and operating trucks with responsibility for pre-and post-trip vehicle inspections, proper cargo securement, and adherence to safety practices. In addition to truck operation, the role requires performing daily maintenance tasks such as refueling and cleaning the truck, reporting any damages or injuries, and complying with all traffic laws and weather-related driving conditions. The driver is expected to load and unload cargo when necessary and complete all required paperwork accurately. Effective communication with supervisors, dispatchers, customers, and co-workers is vital for this role to ensure smooth coordination and customer satisfaction.
This position requires a current CDL Class A license with Hazmat endorsements and a TWIC card, reflecting the nature of the cargo and port security requirements. The ideal candidate has a clean driving record with no violations or traffic-related convictions within the last three years, no DUIs or DWIs, and at least 3 to 5 years of local port driving experience. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and the capability to perform vehicle inspections involving crouching, squatting, and kneeling. Candidates must also pass a pre-employment DOT physical exam and drug test, including marijuana and THC testing, to obtain a Medical Card as mandated by federal DOT standards.
This role is not just about driving but upholding the highest standards of safety, customer service, and regulatory compliance. Employees are encouraged to participate in ongoing educational opportunities to maintain and enhance their professional knowledge. The company values its workforce and offers a comprehensive benefits package including fully employer-paid health insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan with matching contributions, paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, flexible spending accounts (FSA), supplemental benefits, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
Overall, this is an excellent opportunity for a qualified commercial truck driver with specialized endorsements looking to join a reputable and safety-conscious transportation company with competitive pay and a supportive work environment.
