The role of a CDL Driver/PIT Operator at GXO Logistics is pivotal in driving the company's operational success. This position involves operating 53ft tractor trailers safely to transport freight, as well as handling material via equipment such as forklifts for loading and unloading. The CDL Driver plays an essential role in maintaining smooth supply chain operations by ensuring freight is transported in a timely, safe, and compliant manner. Responsibilities extend beyond driving to include maintaining accurate documentation, performing thorough vehicle and trailer inspections, and conducting basic equipment maintenance. The position offers competitive pay starting at $24.00 per stop rate, with additional compensation for non-route work such as training and meetings paid at $38.50 per hour. The work schedule is designed to provide consistency and balance, allowing drivers to be home daily and maintain a healthy work-life integration. Job Requirements

  • Six months of Commercial Driver's License A experience
  • valid current driver's license
  • clean driving record over the past two years
  • valid current CDL A license

Job Qualifications

  • Six months of CDL A driving experience
  • valid current CDL A license
  • clean driving record for the past two years
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • experience with different types of trailers such as tanks, vans, and flatbeds is beneficial

Job Duties

  • Safely operate tractor trailers to transfer and deliver freight in and out of loading doors
  • operate material handling equipment such as PIT to load and unload materials safely
  • maintain required documentation including daily logs, vehicle inspection records, mileage, and shipping records
  • conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document findings
  • provide basic maintenance for equipment and report malfunctions
  • properly secure loads and ensure compliance with weight limits
  • maintain cleanliness and organization within assigned tractor/trailer and work areas
  • inspect trailers before moving to verify condition
  • adhere to all safety policies and practices
