This job opportunity is based in Indianapolis, IN and represents a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe distribution of office products. The position offers an hourly wage starting at $30.00, with an increase up to $30.75 after 12 months of employment, emphasizing the company’s investment in long-term employee growth and retention. The shift for this role begins at 9 PM and continues until completion, from Monday to Friday, which is ideal for individuals who thrive in overnight work schedules.
The role focuses on the safe and timely delivery and retrieval of office products to S.P. Richards customers along overnight routes, requiring strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) and company safety standards. This position demands a high level of responsibility in maintaining vehicle safety through mandated inspections and proper handling of hazardous materials. Drivers are expected to accurately check and manage paperwork, navigate routes proficiently, and utilize electronic systems such as onboard tablets or Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) for detailed delivery logging and proof of delivery collection.
Employees in this role will be responsible for the thorough cleaning and maintenance of their assigned delivery vehicle, ensuring vehicles remain in optimal condition. This position also requires the physical capability to load and unload products using various equipment including pallet jacks, power jacks, and hand trucks or by hand when necessary, managing loads that may exceed 1000 pounds with the assistance of moving aids. Maintaining courteous, efficient, and professional interactions with customers is a critical aspect, along with maintaining neat and orderly paperwork.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three months related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
- Ability to write legibly
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
- Must possess a valid commercial driver’s license class A
- Must have two years driving experience
- Must have clean three year motor vehicle history
- Must meet S.P. Richards driving standards
- Must be able to safely drive on established routes
- Must be able to meet DOT regulations and maintain valid licenses
- Ability to lift and move products up to 60 pounds frequently
- Ability to move heavy product in excess of 1,000 pounds with mechanical aids
- Must be able to work a shift from 9PM to completion Monday through Friday
Job Qualifications
- Must possess a valid commercial driver’s license class A as required by DOT and two years driving experience
- Must have clean three year motor vehicle history
- Must meet S.P. Richards driving standards as provided at time of interview and maintain those standards throughout employment
- Must be able to safely drive product to customers on established routes, utilizing route numbers to identify correct customer
- Must be able to meet and fulfill all regulations and requirements for truck drivers as prescribed by the DOT and maintain valid DOT licenses or qualifications
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately read and match product numbers, line codes, and location identifiers in a fast-paced environment
- Preferred experience using Roadnet system for DOT logging and POD collection, and familiarity with tablets or ELDs for electronic logging and route navigation
Job Duties
- Perform company established and DOT mandated pre- and post-trip safety inspections of assigned vehicle
- Check paperwork against the products ordered and shipped
- Maintain an accurate, detailed electronic delivery log using the onboard tablet or ELD system for route navigation, DOT compliance logging, and proof of delivery (POD)
- Perform cleaning and maintenance functions of delivery vehicle
- Adhere to all safety rules including the handling of hazardous materials
- Retrieve returns and accurately record their numbers
- Proficient completion of assigned delivery route in the predetermined sequence
- Unload and/or pick up orders at designated delivery site utilizing equipment on truck such as pallet jack, power jack, hand truck or by hand when necessary
- Properly handle and file customer paperwork as needed
- Provide courteous, efficient and professional service in dealing with customers
