This role is for a Driver 3 Class A at Food Bank of the Rockies, offering a superior quality of life compared to large box companies. The position features daytime work hours, ensuring employees can be home at night and on weekends, with only occasional Saturday work available. The job involves driving a variety of vehicles such as food trucks, vans, and CDL-required tandem axle sleeper tractor-trailer combinations. Drivers will handle local, rural, and occasional over-the-road (OTR) routes throughout Colorado and Wyoming. The role includes a mix of delivery assignments encompassing partner agency orders, donor pickups, food drive pickups, Grocery Rescue routes, TEFAP/Everyday Eats routes, and Mobile Pantry operations. Interaction with volunteers, partner agencies, donors, and the public is a regular element of the position.

A significant advantage of this role is the use of equipment designed to reduce physical strain. Drivers utilize electric pallet jacks, liftgates, and other tools that minimize heavy lifting and manual loading and unloading. These features enhance safety and efficiency in daily operations. The Driver 3 is tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the vehicle and equipment used for food handling, adhering to Food Bank of the Rockies and Feeding America standards for proper food storage, handling, and distribution.

As part of the day-to-day responsibilities, the Driver 3 performs vehicle inspections, maintains Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) to ensure DOT compliance, and conducts light vehicle maintenance including fluid checks and tire upkeep. The position involves frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, with an emphasis on teamwork and communication. Drivers are expected to support one another by covering routes as needed and occasionally assisting with warehouse duties including inventory counts, sanitation, and building maintenance.
