Job Description
Food Bank of the Rockies stands as the largest food bank by service area in the contiguous United States, passionately committed to ensuring that every member of the community has access to the resources necessary to thrive and flourish. Serving the diverse populations of Colorado and Wyoming, this organization is dedicated to fighting hunger by forging strong partnerships and creating efficient food distribution networks. Its mission is to ignite the power of community to nourish people facing hunger by providing food and necessities through a vast array of programs and collaborations with hundreds of Hunger Relief Partners. The Food Bank's work encompasses not just distribution but also outreach and education to support sustainability and resilience in the communities it serves. Staff members are driven by shared values of compassion, integrity, and commitment to equity, making it a mission-driven workplace where employees are motivated by the meaningful impact of their work.
The role of Driver 1 Non-CDL (Temporary) plays a pivotal part in Food Bank of the Rockies’ food rescue operations. This full-time, 3-month temporary assignment offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about contributing to hunger relief efforts on the front lines. The Driver is responsible for picking up and delivering donated food products, supplies, and materials to and from multiple sites primarily focused on Grocery Rescue routes, with occasional pickups from donors and food drives. This position requires operating various vehicles including vans, food trucks, and 26-foot box trucks under 26,000 lbs GVWR. The role is both physically engaging and community-centered, involving loading and unloading food products while maintaining safety and food handling standards. Interaction with donors, volunteers, Hunger Relief Partners, and the general public is frequent, necessitating strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellence in customer service.
As part of a passionate and mission-driven team, the Driver supports the Food Bank’s overarching goal to reduce hunger across the region by ensuring a reliable flow of food resources. Successful candidates will embody the organization’s values by maintaining professional conduct, upholding safety and food industry standards, and demonstrating cultural awareness and respect in all interactions. The work environment includes varied settings such as outdoor and indoor warehouse areas, and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Candidates must be proactive, organized, and able to manage their time effectively within dynamic operational needs. This role offers generous paid time off, retirement plans with employer matching, health care benefits, and even a bilingual incentive for qualified staff. It is an ideal opportunity for compassionate individuals looking to make a tangible impact in their community with a reputable and well-established nonprofit organization.
