The hiring establishment is a vibrant fast food restaurant known for its exceptional service and commitment to quality. This restaurant operates from Tuesday to Saturday, offering both dayshift and nightshift hours to accommodate various schedules. We are seeking a dependable Carhop to join our team and contribute to the seamless dining experience of our customers. The Carhop plays a crucial role in taking food and drink orders from customers with accuracy and a positive attitude, ensuring each guest feels valued and well-served. This role requires effective communication skills to engage with customers in a friendly manner, addressing any concerns or special requests promptly and professionally.

The Carhop is responsible for memorizing or recording patrons' orders, transmitting them accurately to kitchen staff, and ensuring orders are delivered efficiently. Additionally, maintaining knowledge of the menu and the ability to make suitable suggestions is essential to enhance customer satisfaction. The role also involves collecting payments and operating a point-of-sale system, requiring a high degree of attention to detail and integrity.

To thrive in this position, candidates must be able to work well under pressure alongside cashiers, cooks, and other team members, maintaining a cooperative and positive attitude. The Carhop is expected to perform high-quality work either independently or as part of the team. Flexibility is important, as the role includes working at least one shift per week assisting in kitchen food preparation, demonstrating a willingness to support the entire operation.

The work schedule includes the necessity to be available on most Fridays and Saturdays, which are peak business days, as well as the designated dayshift and nightshift hours. This position requires a valid Utah Food Handlers Permit, underscoring the importance of food safety and hygiene in our service standards.

Job Requirements

  • A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with cashiers, cooks, and other staff
  • Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised
  • Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and deliver orders in a timely manner
  • Must have a valid Utah Food Handlers Permit

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience in customer service or food service beneficial
  • Knowledge of food safety standards
  • Ability to memorize orders or use order entry systems
  • Basic math skills for handling payments
  • Positive attitude and strong communication skills

Job Duties

  • Take food and drink orders from customers accurately and with a positive attitude
  • Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff
  • Engage with customers in a friendly manner
  • Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions
  • Ensure customers are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
  • Collect payments from customers
  • Help food preparation staff when necessary
  • Work on average at least one shift a week in the kitchen helping with food preparation
