The role of Application Engineer at Baker Hughes is strategically positioned within the North America Offshore Drill Bits organization. This role offers a unique blend of technical expertise and customer engagement, allowing professionals to drive operational performance and revenue growth by providing critical technical insights and applications analysis. The Application Engineer works closely with Sales, Operations, and Technology teams to optimize drill bit selection, support field execution, and contribute to the development and launch of new products.
Key responsibilities include delivering post-sales technical support such as performance reviews and run analysis, approving drill bit repairs to ensure compliance with technical standards, and documentation of technical findings to enhance stakeholder communication. The role is also customer-centric, focusing on fostering strong relationships through professional communication and high-quality service. With a typical work schedule of Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, including potential field or customer site visits, this position balances structured work hours with dynamic, situational engagements.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Minimum of 4 years technical field experience preferably in drilling or drill bits
- Strong communication skills

Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- 4+ years of technical field experience, preferably in drilling or drill bits
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to analyze and resolve technical problems in fast-paced environments
- Experience leading programs or projects with cross-functional teams
- Effective documentation, planning, and execution of technical programs
- Strong customer focus and ability to influence stakeholders
Job Duties
- Partnering with field operations and sales to deliver technical value and performance insights to customers
- Providing post-sales technical support including performance reviews, run analysis, and customer troubleshooting
- Conducting detailed applications analysis to optimize bit selection and drilling performance
- Approving drill bit repairs and ensuring compliance with technical standards
- Collaborating with Technology teams to support new product development, testing, and launch activities
- Documenting and communicating technical findings to internal stakeholders and customers
- Supporting field operations with technical recommendations and best practices
- Promoting strong customer relationships through professional communication and service quality
