Job Description

The St. Petersburg Yacht Club (SPYC) is a prestigious, private members-only club with a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. Located in downtown St. Petersburg at 11 Central Ave., FL, the club has long been recognized internationally for its dedication to providing the highest quality service and exceptional experiences for its members and their guests. The club prides itself on maintaining an environment of excellence, exclusivity, and tradition while evolving with the times to meet the diverse tastes and demands of a modern and discerning membership base.

SPYC’s commitment to excellence extends to its workforce, boasting an outstanding working environment complemented by an extensive benefits package. These factors contribute to the longevity and satisfaction of employees, many of whom have chosen to build decades-long careers within the organization. The club is continuously on the lookout for talented, self-motivated individuals eager to contribute to and grow with this historic institution.

This unique opportunity invites a sophisticated, high-energy professional to join SPYC as the Restaurant Manager, a critical leadership role responsible for directing the club's primary à la carte dining operations. The role encompasses oversight of three distinct dining outlets—the refined 1909 Grille Restaurant, the lively Heritage Lounge, and the seasonal Tiki/Deck outdoor venue. Together, these outlets generate approximately $4 million in annual revenue and are supported by a dedicated team exceeding 30 staff members.

The Restaurant Manager’s position demands a visionary leader capable of upholding and growing service standards as the club modernizes and diversifies. This dynamic role requires someone who can manage a variety of environments, from upscale fine dining settings to high-volume casual and outdoor services. The Restaurant Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of SPYC’s hospitality department by fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional growth within the team.

Reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Director, the Restaurant Manager’s responsibilities include managing evening operations from Wednesday through Sunday, from 3:00 PM until the clubhouse closes. The manager will maintain full Profit & Loss responsibility for labor and beverage costs on the floor, employing the Jonas Club Management system for detailed daily reporting, member billing, and operational control.

Key facets of the role involve talent acquisition and development — leading the recruitment, rigorous training, and ongoing mentorship of the service team to meet SPYC’s exacting standards. Beyond operational management, the Restaurant Manager will contribute to the evolution of the club’s wine and craft cocktail programs, ensuring they resonate with the membership’s sophisticated palate. The role also requires a visible leadership presence on the floor to address member relations with impeccable decorum during high-pressure service windows.

This position offers a competitive, negotiable salary and a full-time, exempt employment status, with a target start date in May 2026. Candidates must exhibit the "SPYC Standard," embodying professionalism, calm authority, and resilience. The role demands working afternoons and evenings with some schedule flexibility to accommodate club events and holidays.

Joining SPYC means becoming part of a historic institution at a transformative time, where the incoming Restaurant Manager will contribute significantly to the future of dining and hospitality within this venerable club. SPYC’s comprehensive benefits, professional advancement pathways, and supportive work culture make this an exceptional career opportunity for an experienced restaurant management professional ready to lead with vision and excellence.
