Job Description

Doubletree Hotel Los Angeles Norwalk is a well-established hospitality property located just 6 miles from the popular Knott's Berry Farm Amusement Park. The hotel offers a range of amenities including an outdoor pool, hot tub, and fitness center to enhance the guest experience. Rooms are equipped with modern conveniences such as 32-inch flat-screen TVs with cable and video games, free Wi-Fi, comfortable seating areas, desks, coffee makers, and ironing facilities. The hotel also features an on-site bar and restaurant serving Italian and American cuisine, as well as business facilities including a business center and meeting rooms to accommodate corporate guests and events.

The Line Cook position is a critical role within the culinary team at Doubletree Hotel Los Angeles Norwalk. This role requires the preparation and cooking of all food items from standardized recipes to ensure consistency, quality, and presentation across various outlets including the Corporate Headquarters outlet, Banquets and Catering services in meeting rooms, and the Executive Lounge. The Line Cook is expected to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety within the kitchen and work areas, adhering to both hotel and brand regulations. This position demands a keen attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under pressure to produce appealing and appetizing dishes that meet or exceed guest expectations.

The responsibilities involve preparing food for banquet events as per the specific Banquet Event Orders, managing buffet food displays, and maintaining the kitchen line during operating hours. The role also includes ensuring the organization and cleanliness of storage areas, proper handling and rotation of food items, and compliance with food safety standards including possessing a valid Food Handlers Certification. Additionally, the Line Cook must embody a service-oriented demeanor in all interactions with guests and colleagues, maintain high standards of personal grooming and appearance, and contribute to a positive, professional team environment. The ability to quickly evaluate and select the best courses of action in high-pressure situations is essential.

Job Duties

  • Approach all encounters with guests and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Aimbridge Hospitality standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing the proper uniform and name tag
  • Comply with Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations
  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times
  • Have thorough knowledge of menus and preparation requirements according to hotel standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all storage areas
  • Complete necessary food and station preparations prior to opening of the dining outlets
  • Prepare and display buffet food items according to standards
  • Maintain post on kitchen line during operating hours
  • Prepare food for Banquets according to Banquet Event Orders
  • Prepare and service food for Associate Cafeteria
  • Prepare all foods following standard recipes
  • Prepare specials under direction of restaurant leadership
  • Breakdown buffets and kitchen line storing food and equipment properly
  • Work banquet food station as scheduled
  • Know the location and operation of fire extinguishing equipment
  • Practice safe work habits to avoid injury
  • Be familiar with hotel policies, house rules, and emergency procedures
  • Use Production Charts as specified
  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to guests, managers and associates
  • Operate and maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment
  • Maintain 'Clean As You Go' policy
  • Assist in storage and rotation of food
  • Sign keys in and out under supervision
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
  • Interact and occasionally have unsupervised contact with guests and colleagues
  • Maintain a high level of trust and responsibility
  • Represent the company with reputation and good character exercising sound judgement
