Job Description

DoubleTree Lansing is a prominent hotel located in downtown Lansing, Michigan. It offers a convenient and central workplace close to local attractions such as shops, dining, the Michigan State Capitol, Michigan State University, and Jackson Field. The hotel features modern guest rooms designed to provide comfort and relaxation to visitors. With 10,000 square feet of event space available and an indoor walkway directly connecting the property to the Lansing Convention Center, DoubleTree Lansing is a hub for conferences, community events, and business functions. The hotel also provides excellent amenities including on-site dining options and a free airport shuttle service, making it an attractive choice for both leisure and business travelers. As part of the hospitality industry, DoubleTree Lansing is renowned for its professional and service-driven environment dedicated to meeting the needs of diverse clientele.

The Sales Manager position at DoubleTree Lansing plays a vital role in driving the hotel's success and growth. This role involves energizing business development efforts by actively winning new accounts, building lasting relationships, and increasing venue revenue. The Sales Manager partners closely with the Director of Sales to ensure the hotel shines in its offerings, whether through leisure escapes, business stays, or vibrant group bookings. The position is an overtime eligible manager role, with overtime calculated according to company policy.

As a Sales Manager, you will be at the forefront of the hotel's sales initiatives. Key responsibilities include driving sales results to meet assigned sales and revenue goals, strategically reaching out to potential clients, leading engaging sales tours, and hosting clients from various market segments including leisure, SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, Fraternal), business travel, and group bookings. Building and nurturing existing accounts across all segments is essential, strengthening partnerships through attentive service and consistent engagement. You will monitor market trends closely to capture emerging business opportunities and stay ahead of competitors.

Representing the hotel professionally in the local community and industry organizations is another important aspect of the role. Maintaining compliance with Aimbridge Hospitality's standards, sales metrics, and company regulations requires sound judgment and a high level of personal integrity. Additionally, the Sales Manager is expected to have a deep knowledge of hotel operations and policies to act as a trusted steward of the property. Participation in meetings, promotions, and special functions is part of the role, demonstrating leadership and support for overall hotel management.

This role requires strong communication and professional selling skills, along with the ability to negotiate, influence decision-makers, and multitask independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent organizational skills are also important to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with hotel sales experience considered a plus. A valid driver's license is necessary to fulfill travel and client visit requirements.

DoubleTree Lansing values its employees and offers a competitive benefits package after an initial waiting period for those hired into full-time positions. Among the attractive benefits are medical, dental, and vision coverage, short-term and long-term disability income, term life and AD and D insurance, paid time off, an employee assistance program, and a 401k retirement plan. Recently, the property has also introduced a daily pay option, providing enhanced financial flexibility for employees.

This Sales Manager opportunity at DoubleTree Lansing is ideal for energetic, goal-driven professionals who thrive on making impactful sales contributions in a vibrant hotel environment. If you are passionate about building relationships, capturing new business, and contributing to the growth of a respected hotel brand, this role provides a promising platform to showcase your skills and further your career in hospitality sales.
