Job Description
JW Marriott Washington DC is a luxury hotel located at 775 12th St NW, Washington, District of Columbia. Part of Marriott International's prestigious luxury portfolio, the JW Marriott brand prides itself on its rich history and commitment to exceptional hospitality. Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, operating thousands of properties worldwide across various brand segments. JW Marriott emphasizes a culture where associates come first, believing that happy employees directly contribute to delivering remarkable guest experiences. This hotel operates in a vibrant urban setting, serving both leisure and business travelers with top-notch services and amenities.
The Bellperson position at JW Marriott Washington DC offers a fantastic opportunity for motivated individuals to join an esteemed luxury hospitality team in a part-time, non-management capacity. With a starting pay of $14.24 an hour, rising to $15.99 per hour after six months and $18.99 per hour after one year, this role supports a career pathway with steady wage growth. The role is tip eligible and prefers candidates with open availability to accommodate the dynamic scheduling needs of a busy luxury property.
As a Bellperson, you will be the first friendly face guests encounter upon arrival, providing courteous and professional assistance that shapes the first and lasting impressions of the guest's stay. Your responsibilities extend well beyond opening doors and escorting guests to their rooms. You will assist with luggage transport and storage, inform guests about property amenities, services, and hours of operation, and offer insights about local attractions and points of interest. Additionally, you will perform key functions such as arranging transportation, communicating parking procedures, and ensuring a smooth experience for guests during arrivals and departures.
This role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a professional appearance, and the ability to safely handle luggage potentially weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted or heavier items with help. You will be expected to navigate the property efficiently, standing, walking, or moving quickly when necessary, to respond promptly to guest needs. Physical demands include moving over uneven surfaces and stairs, bending, twisting, and occasional repetitive tasks, all within Marriott’s commitment to quality and guest satisfaction standards.
JW Marriott Washington DC embraces diversity and inclusion, actively fostering an environment where associates' unique backgrounds are valued. The company is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to non-discrimination on any protected basis. In joining the JW Marriott team, you join a close-knit, supportive community that invests heavily in associate development, recognition, and well-being. This role offers an enriching career start within a world-class hotel environment, where passion for hospitality meets opportunity for personal and professional growth. If you are enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to contribute to delivering the legendary JW Treatment™, this Bellperson role is a great fit for you.
