Bethany House Services (BHS) is a respected nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing mission-driven programs that support individuals and families in need. The Donor Relations and Events Manager position is a full-time role reporting to the Chief Development Officer within the Development department. This role is central to fostering and expanding donor relationships while leading the special events portfolio that raises critical funding for the organization’s programs and initiatives. The Donor Relations and Events Manager at BHS will spearhead the engagement, solicitation, and stewardship efforts across a portfolio of over 100 mid- and major donors and event sponsors. This includes the cultivation of major gifts, mid-tier contributions, planned gifts, and sponsorships, driving fundraising goals forward. The position also entails comprehensive ownership of two primary fundraising events, the Mardi Gras and Welcome Home Bash, along with other holiday and organization-wide special events. The manager will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, evaluation, and reporting of these events, aiming to increase attendance and exceed a $400,000 gross fundraising target. Managing event committees and collaborating with internal teams such as Marketing, Programs, Finance, and Human Resources are key elements of this role to ensure alignment around branding, financial control, and messaging.
Additionally, the role demands extensive donor stewardship strategies including development and implementation of engagement plans like Pathway Home and Giving Societies programs. Analytical skills will be applied using tools like DonorSearch and Raiser’s Edge to inform donor pipelines and fundraising strategies. The manager will also play a vital role in volunteer recruitment and management for events. Strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and a collaborative spirit are essential to fostering donor relationships and contributing to a positive organizational culture. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can juggle multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities while maintaining a mission-focused approach.

Job Requirements
- Valid driver's license and the ability to meet BHS vehicle insurance requirements
- Reliable attendance and adherence to organizational policies
- Successful completion of BHS background checks and drug screenings
- Typical office environment occasional travel for events and donor meetings
- Ability to perform essential physical tasks as needed for event setup and execution
- Reasonable accommodation available to enable job performance
- Generally 40 hours per week Monday to Friday some evenings weekends or extended days may be required to support events and donor engagement

Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing communications or a related field or equivalent professional experience
- 3 to 4 plus years of experience in special events development or sales with a proven track record of donor stewardship and fundraising results
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint and donor management systems experience with Raiser's Edge preferred
- Strong oral and written communication presenting with professionalism and clarity
- Highly organized detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects deadlines and shifting priorities
- Strategic thinker with excellent negotiation research and storytelling skills
- Collaborative team-player who respects diverse perspectives and contributes to a positive mission-driven culture
Job Duties
- Manage a portfolio of 100 plus mid- and major donors and event sponsors delivering regular personalized engagement to deepen relationships
- Cultivate and solicit major gifts mid-tier gifts planned gifts and event sponsors
- Collaborate with the CDO CEO Board and stakeholders to design and implement donor stewardship strategies such as Pathway Home Giving Societies and related programs
- Conduct donor research and pipeline analytics using DonorSearch Raiser's Edge and other tools to inform strategy
- Lead the end-to-end planning execution evaluation and post-event reporting for BHS two signature fundraising events Mardi Gras and Welcome Home Bash managing event committees as needed
- Increase attendance and meet or surpass gross fundraising goals of 400000 plus while stewarding budgets and expenses
- Secure event sponsorships and maintain ongoing sponsor engagement through year-round communications and opportunities
- Manage and oversee BHS Holiday Programs and all other BHS special events as assigned
- Support volunteer recruitment and management as it relates to events
- Work closely with Marketing Communications Programs Finance Human Resources and Operations to ensure alignment of events branding messaging and financial controls
- Maintain strong relationships with volunteers partners and staff to support event success and donor engagement
