Job Description

The organization represented in this role is Goodwill, a well-established non-profit retail enterprise committed to improving communities by creating employment opportunities and offering training programs to individuals facing barriers to employment. Located at 6810 Thomasville Rd., Tallahassee, FL, this Goodwill retail store serves as a critical community asset where donated goods are transformed into valuable resources for the public and funding for impactful social programs. Goodwill is recognized for its dedication to customer service excellence, sustainable practices through recycling and reuse of goods, and fostering volunteerism and community engagement. The store not only provides affordable retail options but actively contributes to the broader mission of empowering individuals through job training and economic development initiatives.

The Donation Attendant role at Goodwill is a vital position that directly supports the store's operational success and community mission. Under the supervision of the Retail Store Manager or an assigned designee, the Donation Attendant delivers exceptional customer service by receiving, managing, and processing donated goods with care and efficiency. This role involves greeting donors warmly, assisting with unloading donations, issuing tax receipts, and maintaining accurate donation records. Donation Attendants also play an important role in the pricing, sorting, cleaning, and timely movement of goods to the sales floor or designated processing areas. By maintaining a clean and safe work environment and adhering to store policies and procedures, the Donation Attendant ensures a positive and productive shopping and donation experience for all.

The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including weekend availability, and demands the physical capacity to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds safely. Donation Attendants must exhibit strong interpersonal skills, good judgment in identifying saleable items, and the ability to operate necessary equipment such as pallet jacks or dollies when authorized. Continuous learning and cross-training opportunities are encouraged, allowing this team member to gain skills in production and sales, thereby increasing overall store performance.

By effectively managing donated goods and delivering world-class customer service, the Donation Attendant helps Goodwill maximize revenue streams that sustain its employment and training initiatives.
