Job Description

Village Inn is a well-established chain of restaurants known for offering a welcoming dining experience featuring classic American breakfasts, lunch, and dinner. Located at 3535 S. Meridian Wichita, KS, Village Inn prides itself on delivering high-quality food and exceptional customer service in a family-friendly environment. The restaurant operates with a focus on consistency, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction, making it a trusted choice for local residents and visitors alike. With a rich history of hospitality, the company seeks to maintain a strong community presence while continuously enhancing the dining experience through professional operations and excellent staff engagement.

The Dishwasher position at Village Inn involves essential responsibilities to support the kitchen and dining operations by ensuring a steady supply of clean dishware, glassware, flatware, and cooking utensils. This non-exempt role reports directly to the Restaurant Management within the Operations department and plays a critical part in maintaining a smooth workflow in the kitchen. The dishwasher is responsible not only for cleaning and sanitizing items but also for upholding high standards of safety, hygiene, and presentation.

The primary duties include sorting, scraping, rinsing, and washing dishware and kitchen utensils promptly to meet service demands. The role requires maintaining stock levels of clean items for both the dining room and cook's line to ensure uninterrupted guest service. Beyond dishwashing, responsibilities extend to cleaning pots and pans, disposing of trash properly, and keeping the entire working area safe and sanitary. Additional tasks include assisting management with receiving and storing food items and supplies and performing opening and closing duties to prepare the restaurant for daily operations.

Attention to detail and a commitment to company standards in appearance, grooming, and workplace sanitation are critical. Dishwashers at Village Inn consistently engage with guests by following the company’s five-foot rule to acknowledge and respect customers courteously. The role also includes maintaining cleanliness in bus service areas, guest restrooms, and exterior parts of the building such as sidewalks, landscaping, and parking lots. This position offers valuable experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment and the opportunity to be part of a dedicated team focused on delivering excellent service.

Village Inn requires candidates to be at least 16 years old, complying with all state labor regulations, and prohibits workers under 18 from operating or cleaning slicers or mixers. No specific certifications or licenses are mandatory, but dishwasher candidates should be proficient in following equipment instructions, using timekeeping computers, and applying sound judgment in line with the company culture. Successful completion of training materials, including videos and workbooks, is part of the onboarding process to equip employees for their roles effectively.

The restaurant ensures reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities and requires physical capability to perform various duties, including standing, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, and communicating verbally. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This comprehensive dishwasher role provides an excellent opportunity for those seeking to launch or advance their careers in the hospitality and food service industry while working with a respected brand such as Village Inn.
