Job Description
AVI Foodsystems is a reputable and trusted food service company founded in 1960. Over the decades, it has grown into one of the most respected names in the nation's food service industry, offering comprehensive food services with an emphasis on using the highest quality, freshest ingredients. The company prides itself on delivering impeccable service and total value to its clients daily. AVI Foodsystems operates across multiple sectors but has a strong presence in the Education Division, providing specialized food service solutions tailored to educational institutions. The company’s commitment to excellence is reflected in its standards, ensuring every meal served meets the highest expectations of quality, presentation, and nutritional value.
The role of Division Executive Chef at AVI Foodsystems, functioning full-time within the Education Division, is designed for a passionate and energetic leader who can drive culinary excellence across multiple locations. This leadership position involves providing innovative culinary direction and operational support to ensure consistent food quality and superior guest satisfaction throughout the division. The Division Executive Chef is responsible for collaborating with district and regional leadership teams to implement high standards of food preparation, presentation, and service. The role requires frequent travel to new and existing accounts to support openings, training initiatives, operational transitions, and ongoing quality improvements.
In addition to culinary innovation, the Division Executive Chef develops and executes menus, recipes, and culinary programs that align with AVI Foodsystems’ standards and the expectations of its clients in the educational sector. The position requires mentoring and training chefs, cooks, and culinary team members in various locations to enhance their skills and ensure uniform operational procedures. On-site evaluations to guarantee compliance with food safety, sanitation, merchandising protocols, and operational standards are a critical part of this role. Furthermore, the chef supports business operations through inventory management, food cost controls, labor management, and waste reduction efforts, contributing to the overall financial health of the division.
As a vital member of the leadership team, the Division Executive Chef leads special events, catering programs, and promotional initiatives that strengthen the division’s market position. The role also involves recruiting and onboarding new culinary team members and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. The successful candidate will need excellent communication skills, strong organizational capabilities, and a professional demeanor to build strong relationships with clients, operators, and team members. This position requires a valid driver’s license and the willingness to travel extensively within the division, particularly in the Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and New York regions.
AVI Foodsystems offers a supportive family culture and a competitive compensation package, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance for full-time employees. The company provides a 401(k) plan with a generous matching contribution, paid vacation and holidays, and extensive training and growth opportunities. AVI Foodsystems is an equal employment opportunity employer and conducts pre-employment drug testing. This role presents an excellent opportunity for culinary leaders to advance their careers in a dynamic and reputable organization dedicated to excellence in educational food service.
