The role of a District Shift Leader at Einstein Bros. The District Shift Leader will engage in a targeted General Manager development plan, gaining essential skills in operations, leadership, and business management. They will perform management duties in their home bakery and assist others as needed, ensuring consistent operational excellence and superior guest experiences at all stores.
This leadership position requires early morning shifts starting as early as 3 AM to oversee bakery openings and the first bake of the day. The District Shift Leader models leadership by example, acts as a brand ambassador, and provides ongoing coaching and training to team members. The dynamic nature of the bakery environment requires the leader to jump in and support different roles on each shift, ensuring food safety, cleanliness, and top-notch service. The development program also includes hands-on training in crucial administrative responsibilities such as inventory management, vendor coordination, cash handling, and financial analysis.
As part of their growth into a General Manager role, District Shift Leaders will learn how to analyze profit and loss statements, achieve food and labor cost targets, manage employee schedules, and recruit top talent. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years leadership experience preferred
- Ability to work varied hours and days as business dictates including early shifts and weekends
- Must pass background check
- Must possess current valid driver’s license
- Must complete Bagel Brands ServSafe Certification program if not already certified
Job Qualifications

- Experience in restaurant or retail management is an advantage
- Ability to work early hours and weekends including shifts starting as early as 3 AM
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background check
- Completion of Bagel Brands ServSafe Certification program by end of the development plan if no prior certification
Job Duties
- Perform management duties at a home location and support other bakeries in the market as needed
- Lead by example and act as brand ambassador
- Provide ongoing coaching and training for team members
- Ensure high-quality food and beverage preparation
- Maintain a safe and clean store environment
- Handle restaurant administrative duties such as inventory tracking, vendor orders, and cash management
- Learn and manage P&L analysis, food cost and labor targets, scheduling, and recruiting quality team members
