This position is designed as a stepping stone toward becoming a General Manager, with participants engaged in a targeted development plan that encompasses hands-on management duties, cross-location support, and extensive training in key operational areas. District Shift Leaders start their days early, often as early as 3 AM, to oversee the first bake and store opening. They set the standard in the absence of General Managers and are expected to be brand ambassadors who lead by example. These leaders not only maintain high-quality food and beverage standards and safe, clean environments but also provide crucial coaching and training to their teams. The development plan includes learning essential restaurant administrative skills such as inventory tracking, vendor orders, cash management, profit and loss analysis, food cost and labor target achievement, scheduling, and recruiting. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to rise early and start shifts as early as 3 AM
- Flexibility to work varied hours and days dictated by business needs
- Willingness to travel to support other locations
- Commitment to accept a General Manager promotion when available
- Ability to handle physical demands such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently during shifts
- Must pass background check
- Must hold a valid driver's license
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience preferred
- Ability to work varied hours and days including early mornings and weekends
- Ability to pass background check
- Possess a current, valid driver's license
- Completion of Bagel Brands ServSafe Certification program by the end of the GM development plan, if not already certified
Job Duties
- Perform management duties at home location and support other bakeries in the market as needed
- Lead by example and serve as a brand ambassador
- Provide ongoing coaching and training for team members
- Ensure high-quality food and beverages and maintain a safe, clean store environment
- Manage restaurant administrative duties including inventory tracking, vendor orders, and cash management
- Analyze P&L, achieve food cost and labor targets, schedule staff, and recruit quality team members
- Fill in for General Managers at other locations within the market
- Accept a permanent General Manager promotion within the market when available
