Job Description
Penske Truck Leasing/Transportation Solutions is a premier global transportation provider renowned for delivering essential and innovative transportation, logistics, and technology services. With its headquarters located in Reading, Pennsylvania, Penske is committed to excellence and customer success, helping companies and individuals efficiently move forward in their goals. Penske's extensive network and resources make it a leading name in the transportation industry, providing diverse opportunities for professionals across many disciplines. The company prides itself on fostering a culture of growth, development, and operational excellence in a dynamic and supportive working environment.
The role of District Service Manager (DSM) at Penske is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing multiple service locations within a designated district. Situated at the Penske facility at 22 Jacks Bridge Road in Londonderry, New Hampshire, this position involves managing and developing a team of Branch Service Managers to ensure superior operational performance and exceptional customer service across several facilities. As the DSM, you will be instrumental in aligning team efforts and departmental objectives with the company’s broader mission. This includes ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures, managing hiring, training, and development of staff, and offering strategic input to the District Manager on fleet operations, expense control, and process improvements.
Key responsibilities encompass implementing and maintaining consistent policies and procedures, conducting comprehensive location reviews, leading clear and effective communication across multiple platforms, and ensuring flawless execution of company processes. The DSM acts as a resource for customer operational inquiries, champions technical training and continuous development, and prioritizes customer experience along with cost efficiency. Furthermore, the role demands thorough analytical capabilities including root cause analysis, fleet consulting and planning, maximizing warranty recoveries, and maintaining strong relationships with approved suppliers. Leadership qualities are essential, with a focus on mentoring, coaching, and leading the maintenance teams to drive performance while supporting company safety policies and regulatory compliance. The DSM also plays a critical role in data analysis and taking on additional projects as assigned to further company goals.
This position requires a proactive approach to managing resources effectively across multiple locations, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance team culture. The DSM must be adept at managing complex operational challenges while focusing on continuous improvement initiatives and cost controls designed to optimize the fleet and maintenance functions. It is also important that the candidate is committed to adhering to Department of Transportation regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards, and all internal safety and maintenance protocols, promoting an environment that safeguards employees and equipment alike.
Candidates should be prepared to work a schedule that may require travel as necessary, demonstrating flexibility and dedication to meeting Penske’s operational demands. The company is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in its hiring practices and encourages all qualified individuals to apply. If you are a motivated leader with extensive maintenance knowledge and a passion for workforce development and operational excellence, Penske offers a highly rewarding opportunity to advance your career in a reputable and growing transportation organization.
