The District Safety Manager position located in Greensboro, NC, reporting to the Director of Corporate Safety, is a full-time salaried exempt role with a competitive pay starting from $75,000 annually. This role serves as a critical link between corporate safety functions and local operational execution. The District Safety Manager ensures compliance with State and Federal safety regulations as well as customer-specific requirements across job sites. The position involves coordinating, managing, and implementing comprehensive industrial, occupational, and environmental safety training policies. The individual in this role actively responds to accident reports to assess current safety practices and drive improvements that maintain the highest standards of workplace safety.

The District Safety Manager plays an essential role in fostering a safe and hazard-free environment by conducting audits, training sessions, and safety meetings that promote proactive risk management and regulatory adherence. The responsibilities include investigating accidents, identifying root causes, managing workers' compensation cases, maintaining OSHA logs, and supporting branch safety performance improvements. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, solid communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The work environment primarily involves external job sites with exposure to varying conditions, requiring the use of personal protective equipment when necessary. Travel is an expected part of the job to ensure effective oversight across multiple locations. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, safety management occupational environmental health or industrial health
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Valid drivers’ license required
  • Good driving record
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety and health standards preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze and investigate safety incidents
  • Experience working in union and nonunion environments preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, safety management occupational environmental health or industrial health
  • 2-5 years of experience necessary
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills
  • Requires analysis and investigative skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience – MS, BS, AS, Field or Safety background, 10+ years or equivalent MOS
  • Valid drivers’ license (CDL preferred) & good driving record
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA safety and health requirements as applied to an industrial environment
  • OSHA 30 hour is a minimum OSHA 500 preferred or the ability to achieve within one year
  • Experience in working in both a union and nonunion environment

Job Duties

  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures including rewards and discipline
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State and job site specific rules and regulations
  • Support Branch Managers for improvement of branch safety performance
  • Conduct employee training
  • Conduct audits - Field, Facility and Branch Operations
  • Conduct branch safety meetings
  • Conduct new hired employee orientations
  • Maintain annual OSHA Logs
  • Perform accident investigations and participate in reviewing accidents - injuries to determine root cause analysis, equipment, and property damage
  • Represent Company at jobsites where accidents / injuries have occurred
  • Assist in management of W/C cases and implementation of the Company’s Return to Work Program
  • Track progress towards safety goals
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Corporate Safety and Branch Manager
