The Navy Exchange (NEX) Bethesda operates as a key retail and service provider dedicated to supporting the military community and their families. As part of the larger Navy Exchange Command (NEXCOM), NEX Bethesda plays an integral role in delivering convenient and efficient vending and micro market services across multiple Navy Exchange locations within its designated district. This role focuses on maximizing the utilization and operational performance of vending services provided by Navy Exchange-owned micro markets and contracted vending machines at various Navy Exchange locations within the designated district. The position, titled Vending Services Manager, is a full-time role offering a competitive salary range from $72,804 to $92,449 depending on experience, and requires a candidate who is a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining a top-secret clearance.

The Vending Services Manager holds the responsibility of overseeing all activities related to vending operations within the district, ensuring financial goals are met and operational efficiencies are maintained. This involves monitoring vending system reports, developing financial projections, and taking corrective action when necessary. The role operates under the general supervision of designated supervisors who set objectives, priorities, and timelines while providing corporate guidance through NEXCOM. Leadership and management of vending and micro market departments are a core aspect of the position, including the training, evaluation, and motivation of supervisors and associates.

A vital part of the position is the solicitation for new vending locations and business opportunities, all while ensuring compliance with policies around cash handling, product security, and inventory control. The manager will also lead the implementation of fresh food programs and sanitary handling practices across all micro markets within the district. Operational reviews, audits, and monthly performance meetings with supervisors form part of the continuous improvement process.

Strong familiarity with vending software systems is required to oversee inventory control, route planning, merchandise accountability, and equipment management. The manager will also be responsible for maintaining fixed asset records and coordinating repairs and supplies across the district. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • manage distribution and inventory accounting for regional products
  • oversee vending distribution center operations
  • ensure compliance with theft, error, cash handling, and inventory policies
  • collaborate with Code S to resolve issues
  • train associates in customer service and organizational skills
  • assist with vending software system navigation and inventory procedures
  • review vending reports and prepare operating summaries
  • manage vending equipment maintenance and asset audits
  • analyze contract or micro market operations for optimal benefits
  • oversee micro markets including customer service and fresh food programs
  • stay updated on industry trends and benchmark practices
  • supervise assigned personnel and manage staffing
  • implement NEXCOM policies and procedures
