We are currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and goal-oriented District Manager to lead and oversee operations across the San Francisco, Peninsula, South Bay, and Monterey markets. This pivotal role is responsible for driving significant growth within key accounts by collaborating closely with suppliers and distributor sales teams. The District Manager will play a crucial role in organizing special events such as wine tastings, staff trainings, and wine dinners that engage trade professionals and consumers. By implementing corporate market initiatives and leveraging market insights, the District Manager will ensure brand visibility and sales growth in both retail and on-premise/off-premise channels.
This position requires a strategic thinker with a deep passion and knowledge of wine, as well as strong communication and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will allocate time efficiently among account management, distributor management, and administrative duties to maximize impact and deliver measurable results. With a focus on maintaining and growing a targeted key account list, the District Manager will build and nurture strong relationships with buyers, owners, and managers. Analyzing monthly account performance and market trends will enable the identification of new business opportunities and ensure the achievement of individual sales goals related to depletions, placements, and distribution growth.
The role includes up to 25% travel within the territory and requires physical stamina to comfortably lift and carry up to 50 pounds, as well as the ability to engage in activities such as walking, standing, and climbing. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum three years' experience selling fine wines
- Ability to develop new business and manage accounts
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Passionate and knowledgeable about wine industry
- Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
- At least 21 years old
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel up to 25% within the territory
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to walk, stand, climb, balance, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crouch daily
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum three years' experience selling fine wines (Sommelier, Supplier, Distributor)
- Proven track record in developing new business, managing existing accounts, calling and maintaining business relationships
- Exceptional closing skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Passion and knowledge of wine, wine regions and the wine industry (WSET, CSW a plus)
- Strong computer skills including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to travel within the territory up to 25% of the time
Job Duties
- Allocate time and priorities across approximately 85% account management, 10% distributor management, and 5% administrative responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a targeted key account list while building strong relationships with buyers, owners, and managers across assigned accounts
- Partner with local distributors and supplier partners to drive brand visibility, placements, and sales growth within retail and on/off-premise channels
- Plan, coordinate, and execute on-premise and off-premise promotional activities and market initiatives
- Conduct wine tastings, staff trainings, and wine dinners for both trade professionals and consumers
- Analyze monthly account performance, depletion trends, and sales activity to identify opportunities for growth
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities
- Manage and achieve individual goals related to depletions, placements, distribution growth
