With a robust workforce of approximately 18,000 associates, Airgas fosters a culture dedicated to safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. This culture is embedded within a broader global framework, as Airgas operates as a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a worldwide leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare, serving over 4 million customers and patients across 60 countries with about 66,500 employees.
Airgas believes in empowering its associates to share their ideas, take initiative, and make decisions that align with the company's high standards of sustainable and safe operations. This empowerment is part of the company’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace that respects and values the diverse perspectives of its employees, customers, and communities. Diversity enhances the company's performance and innovation capabilities, creating a welcoming and engaging environment where employees can thrive and grow professionally.
The District Manager role at Airgas is essential to the company's mission of cultivating a high-performance culture anchored in safety and operational excellence. Based in Lubbock, TX, with responsibilities extending to the Amarillo Branch, this role requires a dynamic leader adept at mentoring and supporting sales teams to achieve safety and performance milestones. The District Manager acts as a pivotal figure in advancing Airgas's market presence through strategic alignment across branches, optimized resource management, and the facilitation of a seamless customer and associate experience.
In this position, the District Manager is entrusted with diligent profit and loss (P&L) stewardship, ensuring the long-term fiscal health of the branches under their supervision. They foster exceptional customer service and product knowledge, champion safety measures rigorously, and implement strategic plans that align with growth milestones and customer satisfaction goals. The role also extends to enhancing the selling skills and product expertise of staff through continuous learning opportunities and proactive guidance on company policies.
Collaboration is a key component of this role, working closely with Branch Managers in hiring, training, and managing personnel, as well as supporting outside sales representatives through insightful sales data and forecasting. Operational responsibilities include coordinating paperwork, inventory management, pricing strategies, profitability oversight, and ensuring facility upkeep to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
Airgas offers a comprehensive benefits package that supports the whole life of its employees, including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance. Additional benefits such as a 14-week paid childbirth benefit, 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time underscore the company’s commitment to employee well-being and future security. Benefits start after just 30 days of employment, emphasizing Airgas's investment in its workforce from the outset.
This opportunity suits professionals who are proactive leaders with experience in business-to-business sales or sales operations, possess strong communication skills, numerical proficiency, and the ability to build alignment and foster safety cultures. Physical capability to support operational demands and flexibility in scheduling are also essential. Airgas values candidates who bring resilience, adaptability, and a deep understanding of business and accounting concepts, with a preference for those experienced in the industrial gas or welding supply industries.
