Established in 1985, Westport Properties has grown to manage an extensive portfolio including the US Storage Centers brand, which alone oversees over 17 million square feet of storage space. With total assets exceeding $3 billion and a workforce of over 600 employees nationwide, the company delivers fully integrated services ranging from development and acquisition to management and third-party solutions. The company also emphasizes community involvement through its founding partnerships with non-profit organizations such as Kure-It and Charity Storage, which have collectively raised millions of dollars to support cancer research and local charities. Westport Properties, Inc. is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, offering equal employment opportunities without regard to race, gender, religion, or other protected characteristics, and maintains rigorous employment standards including thorough background checks in compliance with federal and state laws.
The role of District Manager within US Storage Centers involves a multifaceted leadership position overseeing multiple store locations within a designated operational region comprising various cities in California including Alameda, Auburn, and Santa Rosa among others. Reporting directly to the Regional Director of Operations, the District Manager is responsible for leading a team of Senior Property Managers and other key site managers to achieve exceptional operational performance and customer satisfaction. The position entails up to 50 percent travel throughout the district to ensure direct engagement and hands-on management. The District Manager plays a crucial leadership role in strategizing to meet revenue, occupancy, and profitability targets while driving growth and fostering a positive work culture aligned with company values. Key responsibilities include supervising financial and operational activities, coaching and developing property management teams, and ensuring consistent compliance with company policies and local regulations.
Beyond operational oversight, this position requires adeptness in talent management by recruiting, training, and evaluating store management staff to cultivate leadership capable of delivering superior customer experiences across locations. The District Manager is also tasked with managing special projects such as facility openings and conversions, as well as addressing operational challenges through data-driven analysis and proactive communication. A successful candidate must demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills along with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. Physical demands include frequent travel, sitting for extended periods, and occasional lifting, necessitating a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. This full-time, exempt role offers a competitive salary range from $82,000 to $85,000, dependent on experience, with a work schedule typically from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM subject to project deadlines. Westport Properties values hard work, integrity, and a collaborative mindset, offering benefits such as paid time off, health insurance, and 401(k) eligibility, making it an excellent opportunity for professionals seeking to advance their career in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
