Job Description
SkillsUSA Texas is a prominent educational organization focused on supporting the development and success of career and technical education (CTE) students across the state. As an extension of SkillsUSA, this division primarily contributes to fostering leadership, teamwork, and technical skills necessary for students to succeed in their technical careers and personal development. The organization collaborates closely with educators, industry professionals, and volunteers to conduct events, skills competitions, and conferences that highlight student talents and prepare them for the workforce. With an emphasis on inclusivity and equal opportunity, SkillsUSA Texas is committed to creating enriching environments that nurture the growth of all participants without discrimination, promoting equitable access to career development resources and organizational involvement. This commitment is reflected in their policies, ensuring a workplace free from unlawful discrimination and supporting diverse candidate recruitment and retention. The District Coordinator position at SkillsUSA Texas is a seasonal, part-time role designed to support the smooth execution of district-level activities under the guidance of the Regional Manager. This role requires a dedicated individual who will extend logistical and operational assistance during SkillsUSA events and competitions within the assigned district. The role is not involved in regional strategic planning or financial responsibilities but focuses on detailed coordination and implementation of district contests, volunteer management, and event logistics. The position demands flexibility, especially during peak conference seasons, including the willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends, independent work ethic, and strong communication skills for ongoing collaboration with the Regional Manager and various stakeholders. This opportunity offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to the professional development of CTE students while gaining valuable experience in educational event coordination, stakeholder engagement, and nonprofit organizational operations. Candidates taking on this role must be comfortable managing multiple tasks such as contest logistics, calendars, and inventory management, all while maintaining meticulous records and adhering to deadlines. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 40 pounds during conference setups. The position has a maximum commitment of 10 hours per week outside of conference seasons. More broadly, the District Coordinator acts as the primary logistics coordinator at the district level, supporting advisors, volunteers, and judges by ensuring contest materials, schedules, and communications run smoothly and efficiently. This role is foundational to the successful execution of SkillsUSA Texas district events, offering a critical operational link between the Regional Manager and the district's constituent chapters and participants. Work conditions emphasize reliability, with necessary access to internet, personal transportation, and communication tools such as a cell phone. Successful applicants bring a background of at least five years in education, with a preference for those familiar with career and technical education environments and SkillsUSA programs. The role requires professionalism, strong organizational aptitude, and the capability to handle confidential information responsibly. This position represents an excellent opportunity for experienced educators passionate about career education and student success, interested in contributing to a dynamic and mission-driven organization.
