Job Description

Leidos is a global leader in technology and engineering, serving government and commercial sectors with innovative, efficient solutions. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, Leidos employs approximately 47,000 professionals worldwide and reported revenues of about $16.7 billion for the fiscal year ending January 3, 2025. The company is recognized for its commitment to breakthrough digital and mission innovations that empower its clients to meet their critical objectives. Leidos' reputation as a trusted solutions provider is supported by its industry-leading services in technology, defense, health, environment, and energy, with an emphasis on accountability, integrity, and quality outcomes.

As a Distribution Engineering Supervisor at Leidos, you will join a specialized team focused on electric utility design engineering within the Power Delivery Services division. This role involves leading a team responsible for developing design and construction work packages for overhead and underground electrical distribution systems operating in voltage ranges from 4kV to 138kV. You will work closely with clients to maintain Leidos' high standards of quality, ensuring that every project, whether routine or complex, meets stringent technical and safety guidelines. The position promotes a hybrid work model, balancing three days in-office collaboration and two days of remote work.

The Distribution Engineering Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the development of construction packages using advanced software such as GIS, CAD, and Work Management Systems. Your expertise will cover engineering calculations including structural pole analysis, guying, cable pulling, electric demand assessments, fault currents, and protective device coordination. Responsibilities will also include liaising with permitting authorities, right-of-way specialists, system owners, and third-party stakeholders to facilitate joint-use infrastructure and regulatory compliance. This role demands both office-based task management and fieldwork, including travel to customer sites and meetings, reflecting its dynamic and comprehensive nature.

Leidos emphasizes professional growth and technological advancement for its team members. In this position, supervisors will mentor junior engineers and designers, handle onboarding and performance management, and contribute to maintaining project scope, budget, and schedule. You will be instrumental in ensuring quality assurance and quality control through thorough reviews of engineering work. The company fosters career development through opportunities for Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, and leadership training programs.

The ideal candidate possesses at least four years of relevant experience and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution. Familiarity with industry standards such as the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), software tools including AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam, and distribution design software like BOUD and Spida-Calc are essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills, technical acumen, and a hands-on approach to both field and office work are critical for success.

Joining Leidos means being part of a fast-paced, innovative, and supportive environment where your expertise will directly contribute to advancing the future of energy distribution. The company's value-driven culture encourages disruptive thinking and continuous improvement to exceed client expectations and industry standards. If you are passionate about leading engineering teams and advancing electric utility design, this role offers significant career and personal growth within a respected and forward-thinking organization.
