Job Description

Leidos is a global leader in technology, engineering, and government services, known for delivering advanced solutions that enable their clients to address complex challenges efficiently and effectively. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, Leidos employs approximately 47,000 professionals worldwide and reported annual revenues of around $16.7 billion for the fiscal year ending January 3, 2025. With a strong focus on innovation and mission-driven results, Leidos serves both government and commercial customers, providing smarter, more efficient digital and mission solutions. The company is highly regarded in the energy delivery sector, especially through its Power Delivery Services Team, which partners with a wide range of investor-owned utilities, municipal cooperatives, and construction partners to deliver leading-edge energy delivery and telecommunication expertise.

Leidos is currently seeking a Distribution Engineering Supervisor passionate about electric utility design engineering to join their dynamic team. This hybrid role combines office collaboration and remote work, requiring three days onsite and two days working from home. The successful candidate will play a critical role in leading a team of 5-8 engineers to develop design and construction work packages for overhead and underground electrical distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV. These systems may include overhead (OH), underground (UG), or underground residential distribution (URD) environments, encompassing projects like grid hardening, reliability improvements, substation optimizations, joint use make ready, and street light projects.

In this role, the Distribution Engineering Supervisor will oversee on-boarding, daily performance, and assignment management of direct reports while acting as a technical lead to develop construction work packages and perform essential engineering calculations, such as structural pole analysis, guying, cable pulling, fault currents, demand, and protective device coordination. The position also involves developing permitting documents, coordinating with permit agencies, system owners, and forestry personnel, and conducting root cause analyses of outages for mitigation. Furthermore, the supervisor will regularly communicate progress, technical issues, and schedules with clients, ensuring all work complies with Leidos and client safety, design, and quality standards.

Candidates will gain comprehensive experience with industry standards such as the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), proficiency in design software like AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam, and distribution design tools including BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, O-Calc, DDS, and SAP. The position also requires familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and field data collection techniques. Leidos offers a supportive environment encouraging career development, including opportunities for Professional Engineering (PE) licensure, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, leadership training, and formal mentorship programs.

Leidos is proud to provide a workplace that fosters growth, diversity, and inclusion, with a commitment to fair employment practices. The pay range for the Distribution Engineering Supervisor role is approximately $73,450 to $132,775 annually, depending on experience, education, and other factors. Leidos also offers a comprehensive benefits package including health and wellness programs, income protection, paid leave, and retirement benefits. This position requires the willingness to travel 15-25% for site visits and customer meetings, often requiring in-field work and occasional overnight stays.

Joining Leidos as a Distribution Engineering Supervisor means becoming part of a forward-thinking, mission-driven company that values innovative problem-solving and professional growth. The role offers the unique opportunity to influence the future of power delivery systems while leading and mentoring talented engineers in a fast-paced, technology-rich environment. Leidos is not just hiring employees; they are recruiting pioneers who challenge the status quo to outthink and outbuild the competition—stepping boldly into the future of energy delivery.
