Leidos is currently seeking Distribution Engineers and Designers to join their Eastern Pennsylvania team. This role caters to professionals passionate about electric utility design engineering who thrive in both technical and client-facing environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the detailed engineering design of electric utility projects, managing the scope, schedule, and budget while ensuring client satisfaction. The position offers remote work capabilities, yet requires candidates to be located within a commutable distance to Eastern Pennsylvania for in-person meetings and site visits as needed.
This challenging and dynamic role requires proficiency in a variety of technical aspects such as NESC (National Electric Safety Code) standards, structural pole modeling, electrical power calculations, and GIS design training. Candidates will also gain hands-on experience with field data collection and client-specific design standards, enhancing their expertise in electric distribution system design. Exposure to complex cable and conduit projects in urban environments, utility coordination, work permit development, easements, and right-of-way applications will further enrich the professional experience.
The position’s responsibilities include using specialized software tools and systems such as EFD, AUD, Smallworld, ArcGIS, Infor, EAM, STORMS, and Maximo to develop comprehensive work packages for overhead (OH), underground (UG), URD, and make-ready projects. Collaboration with clients to maintain Leidos’s high-quality standards and continuous workflow improvement is a core expectation. The role demands a blend of fieldwork and office duties, with local or regional customer-site visits to collect essential field data.
Leidos values candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial engineering or equivalent experience and certifications. A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required, along with a demonstrated proficiency in applying the National Electric Safety Code, structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calculations, and electric fault current assessments. Excellent communication skills and reliable transportation for travel within the region are essential.
