With a focus on science, security, and sustainability, Amentum's team of dedicated professionals embodies qualities of relentless ambition, boundless imagination, and undaunted curiosity. This approach allows the company to challenge conventions and consistently drive progress in its fields of expertise. Safety, collaboration, and well-being form the foundation of Amentum's corporate culture, ensuring a secure and supportive working environment for all employees and stakeholders. As a respected partner in delivering critical solutions worldwide, Amentum offers intellectually stimulating work and opportunities for growth within a community that values excellence and innovation.
The role of Emergency Dispatcher at Amentum is a full-time, contract position that plays a pivotal role in the operational safety and emergency response systems, particularly within challenging and dynamic environments such as deployments to Antarctica. The position demands a high level of responsibility, vigilance, and professionalism, as it involves responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for fire and emergency medical services as well as departmental service requests. The successful candidate will be tasked with identifying and dispatching the appropriate personnel and equipment swiftly and efficiently, ensuring adherence to United States Antarctic Program (USAP) policies and procedures to protect all public safety responders and the public.
The Emergency Dispatcher will be integral to maintaining clear communication lines through various systems including 911 phone systems, administrative phones, and multiple radio networks such as HF, VHF, and satellite communications. This role requires continual monitoring of fire alarm systems, emergency responder activities, vehicle movements, and facility emergencies, followed by coordinating timely responses and generating service requests as necessary. The position also involves a variety of specialized duties, including operational aircraft communications, coordination of Search and Rescue operations, activating Emergency Operations Center protocols, and collaborating with international agencies and officials.
Given the nature of the work, candidates must be capable of working unsupervised, possess strong judgment, prioritize urgent requests effectively, and operate in high-pressure situations with calm and precision. The job requires extensive computer proficiency, including experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the Firehouse Software system for communication-related data entry and reporting. Physical requirements include readiness to deploy to remote locations like Antarctica for extended durations, ability to perform strenuous physical activities in extreme conditions, and compliance with medical, dental, and security clearances. The role also emphasizes active participation in ongoing community safety and environmental programs.
Amentum offers this position with an attractive compensation of $1,218.00 per week and comprehensive benefits including health, vision, and life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and an employee assistance program. The work schedule is varied to ensure round-the-clock coverage, including shifts during nights, holidays, and special events. This exciting opportunity is ideal for professionals committed to utilizing their emergency service expertise to support vital missions in uniquely demanding environments.
