We are currently seeking a full-time Dispatcher to join our team at Our Lady of the Lake Main Campus in Baton Rouge, LA. This position plays a crucial role in coordinating and monitoring Patient Transportation services by efficiently dispatching and managing transportation requests from customers. The role involves providing exemplary customer service, ensuring timely completion of patient transport requests, and serving as a liaison between the Patient Transportation department and other units within the hospital. The Dispatcher must have strong organizational skills and the ability to monitor and direct transport staff to maintain high productivity and service standards. The position operates Monday through Friday with rotating weekends, and hours may vary depending on operational requirements. Prior housekeeping experience is preferred but not mandatory. The pay range for this role is $14.00 to $15.00 per hour, and the position comes with excellent benefits including health coverage, retirement plans, and wellness programs. This role is essential in enhancing patient care by ensuring smooth and effective transport services within the healthcare setting, supporting both patients and clinical staff alike. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • provides quality customer service to customers by providing one-on-one attention to detail
  • understands and applies knowledge of basic patient transport concepts, infection control practices and proper body mechanics
  • determines, explains and develops dispatcher logic and transporter activities
  • transports patients when necessary
  • directs the activity of the transport function and transporters, ensuring timely completion of tasks
  • monitors procedures related to availability and completion task, and follows up on issues related to service and operations
  • ensures requests have been addressed in an efficient, timely manner according to current departmental standards, priorities and patient appointments
  • serves as a liaison between patient transportation and other departments
  • assigns, collects and distributes pagers
  • monitors daily sign-in/out procedures
  • develops and promotes positive customer service relationships with patients, patient family members, visitors and staff
  • ensures accurate, timely dispatch of transport requests
  • ensures maximum staff productivity
  • resolves problems related to patient, visitor, staff or employee complaints
  • recommends solutions for ongoing or recurring issues
  • performs other duties as assigned
