Job Description

This particular role centers around streamlining freight transportation processes with an emphasis on cutting down ship times, maximizing load efficiency, and maintaining high standards of delivery punctuality. The Transportation Planner will be tasked with overseeing the planning and coordination of all transportation services. This requires close collaboration with dispatchers, fleet managers, and scheduling team leaders to ensure seamless operations involving up to 75 drivers. The planner will also focus on developing strategic daily operational plans that align with established departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), evaluating current plans, adjusting operations to improve payload and loaded mile percentages, and ensuring continuous growth through customer engagement for new freight opportunities.
Further, the Transportation Planner will address maintenance coordination with terminal managers and lead technicians while actively communicating across various departments including drivers and customer representatives. This role demands a professional who can work well under pressure, exercise independent judgment, and possess strong problem-solving capabilities. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to adapt rapidly in a high-demand environment. Experience in logistics dispatch and scheduling along with familiarity in the use of Microsoft and logistics software applications is preferred. Job Duties
- Partner with dispatchers and fleet managers to plan and carry out shipping operations
- develop daily operating plan with emphasis on achieving established department KPI's
- evaluate current operating plan and create future plans with focus on payload, on-time deliveries, and loaded mile percentage
- engage and collaborate daily with Scheduling Team Leaders on opportunities of growth and improvement for KAG assets
- assess and adjust current and future operating plans to maximize growth, efficiency and safety
- solicit new and existing customers for freight opportunities
- update known sourcing as changes occur and revise daily operating plan as necessary to ensure operational efficiency
- maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the overall efficiency and success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations
- communicate effectively with customers, drivers, dispatchers, and other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient operation
- manage day-to-day operations of up to 75 drivers
- coordinate maintenance issues/needs with Terminal Managers and Lead Technicians
