Job Description
The hiring company is a mountain resort that offers a variety of food and beverage locations throughout the mountain area. As a well-established destination for winter sports enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers, the resort prioritizes guest satisfaction and operational excellence. Known for its vibrant atmosphere where guests can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and other mountain activities, the resort also provides a range of dining options that cater to diverse tastes and preferences. The company fosters a supportive team environment and promotes employee engagement by offering numerous benefits and opportunities for career growth within the hospitality and food service industry.
The role of the dishwasher/prep cook at this mountain resort is a crucial position that ensures the kitchen and restaurant operations run smoothly and efficiently. This employment opportunity is typically seasonal, given the nature of mountain resort operations, with the possibility of working holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts to meet the demands of a busy food service environment. The dishwasher/prep cook is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards by cleaning all dishes, cutlery, trays, pans, glasses, and other kitchen tools and appliances used within the food and beverage locations across the mountain. Maintaining these high hygiene standards is essential to support the operational excellence of the resort’s dining services.
In addition to dishwashing duties, the prep cook aspect of this role involves assisting the culinary team by preparing ingredients and simple dishes such as entrees or salads. This includes measuring ingredients and seasonings, following prep lists created by chefs, and preparing cooking ingredients like soup stock. The dishwasher/prep cook will be involved in setting up and sanitizing workstations to ensure a safe and organized kitchen workspace. This role also requires the individual to assist chefs with any culinary tasks that arise, ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and guests receive quality food in a timely manner.
This position demands strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate effectively with the culinary staff and manage the fast-paced environment typical in mountain resort food service. The candidate must be able to understand and follow detailed written or oral instructions and have the manual dexterity necessary to handle kitchen tools safely and effectively. The ability to speak, read, write, and understand English is essential to understand instructions, safety rules, and to communicate with coworkers and guests. Overall, the dishwasher/prep cook plays an integral role in supporting the culinary operations, maintaining cleanliness, and enhancing the guest experience through efficient kitchen assistance.
