Patchwork Philly is currently seeking dedicated individuals for a dishwasher and food preparation position. This is an essential role within the operations team that requires a blend of reliability, basic culinary skills, and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen. This position is designed for individuals who enjoy a fast-paced work environment and are eager to contribute to a smooth kitchen operation. The job is split between dishwashing duties for three days and food prep tasks for two days each workweek, providing a well-rounded opportunity to engage in multiple kitchen functions.
The dishwasher portion of the role involves maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, which is critical to the restaurant's high standards of health and safety. Responsibilities cover washing dishes efficiently, ensuring that all kitchenware is spotless and ready for use, cleaning floors, taking out trash, and maintaining the dishwashing machine. Regular upkeep of the dish pit and preparing for the next shift by organizing chemicals and bins are also key duties. Additionally, during slower periods, employees will take on larger cleaning projects such as washing speed racks and cleaning walls, contributing to the overall upkeep of the kitchen.
On food prep days, employees will focus on preparing and restocking the cold side of the breakfast buffet, assisting line cooks with opening duties, and replenishing items in the cold market, which includes sandwiches and salads. The role requires basic food handling skills and knife work to efficiently complete these tasks. Staff are expected to fill out station MEP (Mis en place) lists and complete a written prep checklist once all preparation tasks are finished, ensuring smooth workflow for the kitchen team throughout the day.
This position is a morning shift role that demands open and full-time availability, meaning employees need to be flexible with their hours to accommodate early operational hours and potential extended shifts.
