Job Description
Twin Cities Co-op Partners is a well-established cooperative committed to providing sustainable and community-focused grocery experiences throughout the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area. One of the key operations within this cooperative is the Wedge Co-op, specifically the Wedge Lyndale location. Wedge Co-op is renowned for its dedication to organic and locally sourced foods, fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity, sustainability, and community engagement. This is demonstrated through their commitment to inclusive employment practices, adherence to industry health standards, and the ongoing support of a welcoming workspace for employees and customers alike. The cooperative is not only driven by business goals but also by the strong principles of equity and environmental stewardship, creating a unique workplace that supports personal and professional growth while promoting a collective mission for good food and community wellness.
The role being offered is that of a Dishwasher at the Wedge Lyndale Prepared Foods department. This is a vital position responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe kitchen environment that directly supports the food production team. Working as part of the Wedge team, the Dishwasher ensures that all cooking tools, dishes, utensils, pots, pans, floors, and workspaces meet rigorous sanitation standards. This role requires attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility to uphold the health and safety guidelines established by the cooperative and applicable health regulations. The Dishwasher will report to the Prepared Foods Manager at Wedge Lyndale and will be expected to operate various dishwashing equipment safely and effectively.
This position is suitable for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and can handle physical demands such as standing for long periods, lifting heavy loads, and working in varying temperatures including coolers and ovens. Flexibility is key, as the role requires availability in the evenings and possibly other varied shifts to meet department needs. Preference will be given to candidates who show a commitment to teamwork, strong work ethic, and an ability to engage positively with a diverse team. The cooperative values employees who contribute to a inclusive workplace and who are aligned with the cooperative principles of fairness and community mindedness. This is a union position within the Wedge Lyndale bargaining unit of UFCW 1189 Grade 1, reflecting a structured work environment with consistent employment standards and benefits.
Overall, the Dishwasher at Wedge Lyndale plays an essential role that supports quality food preparation while ensuring compliance with rigorous sanitation protocols, thereby contributing to the overall success and reputation of the co-op.
