Job Description

Twin Cities Co-op Partners is a well-established cooperative business that prioritizes community engagement, diversity, and sustainability. Operating multiple neighborhood food co-ops in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area, including the Wedge Co-op, this organization is committed to providing high-quality, locally sourced products while fostering an inclusive environment for employees and customers alike. As a cooperative, it operates on principles that promote democratic control, economic participation, and social responsibility, empowering both customers and staff to contribute to its success and welcoming a diverse range of individuals to its team.

The Wedge Co-op at Lyndale, a vibrant and forward-thinking food co-op, is currently seeking a Dishwasher to join their Prepared Foods team. This role is essential in maintaining the clean and sanitary conditions necessary for the smooth operation of the kitchen and food preparation areas. The Dishwasher will be responsible for ensuring that all dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen implements are thoroughly washed, rinsed, and sanitized according to health and safety guidelines. In addition, the role includes maintaining sanitation of floors, walls, mats, drains, and shelves within the kitchen environment, as well as timely removal of trash, food waste, and recycling to support a clean workspace.

Ideal candidates for this position will be available for evening shifts and exhibit flexibility toward scheduling requirements, including the possibility of working daytime, evening, or weekend hours, to best meet the needs of the department. Previous dishwashing experience is preferred, but a strong work ethic, willingness to follow procedures, and the ability to work cooperatively within a team are equally important. The Dishwasher must be comfortable operating and sanitizing kitchen equipment safely and be prepared to occasionally engage in food preparation tasks as assigned.

This role requires physical stamina and the ability to perform various physical activities such as standing or walking for extended periods, bending, stooping, lifting loads up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling carts weighing up to 100 pounds, and adapting to working in different temperature environments including coolers, ovens, and freezers. The Wedge Co-op values inclusivity and diversity and actively fosters a welcoming environment for people from all walks of life, encouraging applicants with diverse backgrounds to apply.

As a member of the Wedge Lyndale bargaining unit of UFCW 1189, this position offers the opportunity to be part of a cooperative team-oriented environment that supports employee rights and promotes a strong sense of community among staff. Grade 1 classification indicates entry-level wage scale and benefits as per the union agreement. Working as a Dishwasher at the Wedge Co-op represents a vital role contributing to the hygiene standards and operational efficiency of the cooperative’s food preparation area, presenting a meaningful opportunity to join a socially responsible employer committed to community and sustainability.
