Elmer's Pancake & Steakhouse is a beloved family-owned and operated restaurant with a rich history dating back to 1960. Founded by Walt and Dorothy Elmer in Portland, Oregon, the establishment began as Elmer's Colonial Pancake House, focusing on breakfast and quickly becoming a local favorite. The restaurant's foundation lies in Walt Elmer's famous buttermilk pancake recipe, a treasured secret that continues to delight guests today. Over the years, Elmer's expanded its menu to include lunch and dinner options, evolving into Elmer's Pancake & Steakhouse. The company began franchising in 1966 and currently operates 18 locations across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Arizona. Elmer's is currently seeking a dedicated dishwasher to join their exceptional team. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of the dish room and dish machine. The dishwasher ensures a consistent supply of spotless dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and other cookware items for both the front and back of the house through proper washing and sanitizing processes. Paying close attention to sanitation standards, the dishwasher monitors water temperature and sanitation levels, inspects items for cleanliness, and promptly reports any defects to the manager on duty. Additionally, the dishwasher maintains the organization of the dish storage area, utensil racks, mop area, and chemical storage. This position offers an hourly wage between $16.00 and $17.00 plus tips, with the option of full-time or part-time employment. Job Duties
- Sets up, maintains, and breaks down dish machine including arms, screens, and baskets
- Checks machine consistently throughout shift to ensure proper operation including water temperature, sanitation levels, correct operation
- Visually inspects dishes, glassware, cups, trays, utensils, and small wares to ensure they are clean like new
- Reports any defects to manager on duty immediately
- Washes and stores in proper place all dishes, glassware, cups, trays, utensils, small wares, pots, pans, and anything else used in preparation, cooking, or storage of food items for front and back of house
- Ensures all sanitation solutions in dish machine and pot sinks meet specific requirements for health code standards
- Removes trash from dish room and places it in dumpster
- Cleans and sanitizes garbage cans and keeps clean liners in cans at all times
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of utensil racks, dish storage area, mop area, and chemical storage area
- Completes side work and extra projects as assigned
