The role of Dishwasher - Nutrition and Food Services Assistant at Wellstar involves serving a critical function in supporting the daily operations of the nutrition and food services departments. This full-time position requires flexibility with various work shifts, including a typical schedule from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Monday through Friday, plus every other weekend. The employee will engage in several duties such as washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans; assisting with basic housekeeping tasks; and safely transporting patient meal food carts to and from nursing units. The work environment promotes infection prevention, cleanliness, and food safety, adhering to strict health codes and industry standards like Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).

In addition to routine responsibilities, the position demands attentiveness to safety protocols, proper food storage, and accurate documentation. The role includes supporting retail operations by serving, prepping, cleaning, restocking, and cashiering, as well as participating in a patient tray line to prepare meals aligned with specific dietary orders and preferences. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience preferred in related food service or healthcare roles
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Basic math skills
  • Availability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand and perform manual tasks for extended periods
  • Compliance with health and safety regulations including HACCP
  • Willingness to wear uniform and maintain personal hygiene standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma general preferred
  • Experience in food service or healthcare environment preferred
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English verbally and in writing
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain safety protocols
  • Basic math skills for handling cash and measurement

Job Duties

  • Perform dishwashing duties including washing dishes, pots, and pans
  • Assist with basic housekeeping such as cleaning walls, floors, windows, and equipment
  • Safely transport patient meal food carts to and from nursing units
  • Serve, prep, clean, restock, and cashier in retail food service areas
  • Prepare patient meals on the tray line according to diet orders and preferences
  • Follow infection prevention and safety guidelines including HACCP and county health regulations
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment
  • Complete documentation and checklists accurately
  • Collaborate flexibly with team members and support other department tasks
