The role we are seeking to fill is that of a Dishwasher/Steward who will be integral to ensuring our kitchen operates efficiently and hygienically. This position involves setting up products for functions, retrieving and washing soiled wares, and ensuring that all kitchen equipment and dishes meet our rigorous cleanliness standards. The Dishwasher will be responsible for transporting supplies and food to service areas, supporting the kitchen team by assisting in meal preparation, handling waste appropriately by sorting trash and recyclables, and maintaining proper sanitation and safety protocols throughout their duties. Employees in this position are expected to endure significant physical activity including standing for the entire shift and frequently reaching, bending, and lifting heavy loads of up to 40 pounds. Flexibility and a team-oriented mindset are essential as employees may be called upon to work various shifts and assist kitchen managers as needed. The role also includes specific opening and closing duties to ensure the dishwashing area is properly set up at the start of service and thoroughly cleaned at the end. This position is ideally suited for individuals with a minimum of one year of professional culinary experience, who possess basic skills in knife handling, kitchen equipment operation, and the ability to follow instructions accurately. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, alongside the ability to perform fundamental reading and mathematical tasks. Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year professional culinary experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to stand for entire shift
  • Ability to frequently reach, bend, and stoop
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
  • Ability to carry and transport heavy trays and chafing dishes multiple times per shift
  • Good general health and physical stability
  • Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress including adherence to time constraints
  • Willingness to work in environments with exposure to cleaning chemicals and extreme heat

Job Duties

  • Maintain the cleanliness of all dishes and food preparation equipment as well as perform routine cleaning tasks while practicing good safety and sanitation skills
  • Assist with meal prep as needed
  • Handle trash and recyclables and put them in appropriate bins outside
  • Set up dish pit and machine at opening
  • Place trash cans in appropriate locations prior to prep team arrival
  • Maintain a clean and organized station during prep and service times
  • Perform thorough cleaning of the kitchen during closing and follow procedures provided by Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or Executive Chef
