Job Description
Holy Cross Health is a premier, full-service, not-for-profit Catholic teaching hospital based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As part of Trinity Health, one of the largest multi-institutional Catholic health care delivery systems in the United States, Holy Cross Health operates in the spirit of the Sisters of Mercy. The hospital is a trusted community health partner offering a comprehensive range of progressive inpatient, outpatient, and community outreach services alongside clinical research trials. Serving Broward and Palm Beach counties, Holy Cross Health is the only not-for-profit Catholic hospital in this region and remains deeply committed to providing compassionate, holistic, and person-centered care that emphasizes dignity and respect for all patients and visitors. The organization fosters an environment grounded in Gospel values and strives to create a workplace that supports continuous learning, accountability, and open, respectful communication.
The role of Dishroom Associate at Holy Cross Health is critical to maintaining high standards of hygiene and patient safety within the hospital’s food service areas. This full-time position, working day shifts generally from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm five days per week with rotating weekends, involves operating industrial washers, hand-washing pots and pans, managing waste disposal, and ensuring the sanitation of the dish room and kitchen. The associate’s responsibilities directly contribute to the safety and wellbeing of patients by ensuring that all eating utensils, food trays, and kitchen tools are meticulously cleaned and sanitized. In addition to machine operation, the Dishroom Associate plays a vital role in keeping kitchen floors clean, disposing of trash properly, and supporting the transport and distribution of clean items within the facility.
This position offers a competitive compensation package including a $1,000 sign-on bonus and immediate eligibility for an extensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision coverage, paid time off, 403B retirement savings with employer matching, and education assistance. Employees also benefit from day-one access to benefits without waiting periods, daily pay options, and participation in a colleague referral program with incentives. Holy Cross Health encourages professional development and lifelong learning, providing tuition reimbursement and plenty of opportunities for career growth. Working as part of the hospital’s team means embracing the organization’s guiding behaviors: supporting one another in service, engaging in transparent and respectful communication, being present and accountable, trusting intentions, and fostering continuous improvement.
Overall, this role provides a meaningful opportunity for individuals passionate about contributing positively to healthcare through vital support services. By ensuring food safety and maintaining cleanliness standards, the Dishroom Associate helps uphold the hospital’s mission to be a compassionate and transforming healing presence within the communities it serves. Candidates suitable for this position will appreciate a structured work environment that values teamwork, service orientation, and integrity, while offering strong benefits and a clear path for career advancement in a respected healthcare institution.
