Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous experience working in a kitchen, restaurant, or similar environment preferred
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
Ability to handle kitchen equipment and machinery safely
Strong attention to detail and focus on cleanliness
Good time management skills and ability to multitask
Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and communicate with kitchen staff
Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle heavy or large items
Ability to lift heavy objects such as pots, pans, and boxes up to 50 lbs
Ability to work in a hot and sometimes noisy kitchen environment
Willingness to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on the establishment’s hours of operation

Job Duties

Wash dishes, pots, pans, glassware, utensils, and other kitchen equipment using the appropriate dishwashing methods and machinery
Inspect and sort dishes before washing to ensure proper cleaning and handling of delicate items
Dry and store cleaned items in their designated locations in an organized and efficient manner
Maintain cleanliness in the dishwashing area, ensuring that equipment is free of grease, food particles, and residue
Ensure the dishwashing area remains sanitized and hygienic throughout the shift
Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, including countertops, sinks, and floors
Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly, keeping the kitchen area clean and free from clutter
Regularly clean dishwashing machines and other kitchen appliances to ensure they remain in good working condition
Assist with the removal and cleaning of any large pots, pans, or utensils used by the kitchen staff
Assist in maintaining kitchen inventory, including restocking cleaning supplies, paper towels, and dishwashing detergents as necessary
Notify kitchen staff or management if supplies are running low or need to be replenished
Support the kitchen staff by ensuring that clean dishes, utensils, and other necessary items are readily available during meal service
Assist with food prep tasks as needed (e.g., peeling vegetables, chopping ingredients) when not washing dishes
Ensure that any dirty kitchen items or dishes are quickly removed from the workstations to avoid clutter
Follow all health and safety regulations to maintain a clean and safe work environment
Adhere to proper hygiene and sanitation procedures to prevent contamination of food and cooking equipment
Handle cleaning chemicals and cleaning equipment safely and according to guidelines
