The role of dishwasher at Avera on Louise Health Campus is essential to maintaining food and workplace safety and sanitation in accordance with state regulations. This position ensures that all kitchen utensils, dishes, cookware, and food delivery carts are properly cleaned and sanitized to meet strict safety standards. The dishwasher works across various shifts with a schedule designed to support continuous operations, including every third weekend and holiday. This position is pivotal in supporting the dietary and kitchen staff by operating dishwashing machinery correctly, following infection control instructions, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Candidates in this role are expected to adhere to exact standards for infection control and chemical safety, inspect all equipment for cleanliness and proper function, and complete daily cleaning schedules. The dishwasher prioritizes cleaning of food delivery carts during meal service and keeps accurate records of temperatures and cleaning activities. Additionally, this job requires physical stamina and visual acuity to carry out tasks effectively, as well as strong communication skills to interact with team members. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- One to three months of related experience or training preferred
- Ability to perform tasks requiring visual acuity and communication
- Willingness to work rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to follow safety and infection control guidelines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks associated with cleaning duties

Job Qualifications
- High school or GED equivalent

Job Duties
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all dishes, kitchen utensils and cookware as prescribed by facility policies
- Must follow exact specifications and instructions for infection control
- Operates dishwashing machine in accordance with manufacturer’s and the supervisor’s instructions
- Adheres to the proper use of chemicals to ensure food and work safety
- Inspects all equipment for cleanliness and ensures it is it in good working condition
- Prioritizes cleaning food delivery carts during meal service and brings them to the kitchen area
- Completes daily cleaning schedule
- Performs other cleaning duties as needed or as assigned by supervisor
- Maintains and safe and sanitary work area
- Keeps complete and accurate records of dishwasher temperatures and cleaning duties
