The dining services department plays a critical role in upholding this standard by delivering excellent food service and maintaining high cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the facility. The Dishwasher position is a vital part of this team, reporting to the Executive Chef and dining leadership. This is a non-exempt, in-person role that offers flexibility in scheduling to accommodate various availability needs. The dishwasher is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment, ensuring they meet strict community and regulatory health standards. By keeping the kitchen organized and sanitary, the dishwasher supports timely and efficient food service critical to resident satisfaction and overall dining operations. Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year restaurant or dishwashing experience
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work indoors in a commercial kitchen setting
- Flexibility to work on holidays and weekends
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to use hands for handling and feeling
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to talk, hear, taste, or smell as required for job functions
- Must pass background screening
Job Qualifications
- Prior dishwashing or utility experience in a commercial kitchen preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
- Ability to work as part of a team in a senior living environment
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including holidays and weekends
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Good communication skills
Job Duties
- Operate the dish machine to wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans
- Ensure all dishes are properly cleaned, sanitized, and stored according to health and safety guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing station, including dish machine, sinks, floors, walls, and surrounding areas
- Remove trash and recycling from kitchen and dining areas as needed and ensure proper disposal
- Assist with the cleaning and sanitation of kitchen equipment, prep stations, and storage areas
- Follow all community and regulatory standards for cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation
- Stock supplies such as paper products and soap in dishwashing and kitchen areas
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and dining team members to ensure timely and efficient service
- Practice all safety and loss prevention procedures
- Attend in-services and staff meetings as required
- Other duties as assigned
