This role is an entry-level position focused on maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen area, primarily through dishwashing and supporting general kitchen duties. The position includes washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small wares, as well as ensuring that floors, walls, drains, mats, and shelves remain clean and orderly. The team member will assist with kitchen deliveries, help with proper storage and rotation of products, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including food safety standards. The role requires the employee to work in accordance with Whole Foods Market’s Standard Operating Procedures, deliver courteous and efficient service to both customers and fellow team members, and support the company’s core values and goals. Employees must be prepared to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, given the demands of the retail environment. This role is integral to creating a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment that supports the seamless operation of the store and the health of the customers.
The wage for this position ranges from $15.00 to $24.40 per hour, commensurate with experience. Job Requirements
- No prior retail experience required
- must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
- hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- ability to bend, twist, squat and reach
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- exposure to temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- may require use of ladders

Job Duties
- Washes, rinses, and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small wares
- maintains cleanliness of floors, mats, drains, walls, and shelves in the kitchen area
- assists with kitchen deliveries including proper storage, organization, and rotation of products
- arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
- works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
- provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
- follows and complies with established procedures, including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
- reports safety hazards and violations immediately
- performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
